  • Probably yes, but I'd make sure to read some reviews first.

  • Probably no, unless WotC really does a spectacular job with the book.

  • I don't buy setting books.

Had to pick "Probably no, unless WotC..." because "No, I dislike Dark Sun" is too harsh.

The real answer though is: "No, because Dark Sun isn't that interesting for me to drop whatever campaign I happen to be running".

This holds for me as well. I don't dislike Dark Sun. If a decent GM I knew offered to run a game with that setting, I'd be cool with that. On the other hand, I have no desire to run a game in Dark Sun myself.

I voted no, unless the they do a spectacular job on it. If they can keep the lore of the original box set intact and add some mechanics needed for the setting and they don't suck, I would get it. If it is anything like what they did with the 4e version, I will not touch it.
Now I'm curious. What did they do to 4e Dark Sun?

We do it to mess with you, specifically! :)

On a more serious note, I wanted to see how many posters would buy (or refuse to buy) because of an "emotional" reason (like/dislike), and how many would decide for more "analytical" (for lack of a better word) reasons (informed purchase, product quality etc).
Also, I don't make polls for a living.
Simply asking "how do you feel about Dark Sun like/don't like/neutral" might have made a better poll. Clearly, quite a lot of people would buy any setting book, so it's difficult to see anything meaningful here.

That's kinda what I wanted to know though. If there is a customer base for the product, at least here on Enworld, and how big it is.

There is a customer base for an Faerynoseclippings campaign setting. Don't need a poll to show you that. If you build it they will come.
I'm going to guess that support for that specific setting would be in single digit percentages. You're welcome to open a poll and prove my assertion wrong, though ;)

In all seriousness, the idea for this poll originated in that recent thread about psionics (you posted there too I think), when someone doubted that Dark Sun would reach that fated 60-70% approval rating that WotC allegedly uses nowadays.
I was curious to see if Dark Sun was indeed, as some posters seemed to suggest, far below that benchmark.
