I have no objection to anime/manga-style art, as long as its good.
There are plenty of D&D-ish fantasy anime out there.

Unfortunately, a lot of people think anime/manga is all either Pokemon or Hentai, and will judge against it without thinking.

This is just a general question, but would you hold is against a book and the publisher who printed it if it had anime style art in it? I have several members of my site who staunchly believe it wouldn't affect the popularity of a book while I believe that using anime style art for a book that isn't specifically about an anime RPG would probably be disastrous.

I, personally, like anime-style art a great deal. In my head, that's how I see my own RPG world and most of my characters. Good clean anime-style art would certainly not keep me from buying a good. Look at Guardians of Order's art. Very nice. The anime-like art in Path of Faith is, again, very nice.

Nice to see an image of Ninja Master Gara posted. I was thinking at the time most of the art for Bastard! was actually pretty well suited to fantasy. Aside from the comic moments when things get distorted.

I'd not hold it against a book if the art was manga influenced. I would hold it against the book if the art was bad.

I would not like anime art in a book at all. I already see too much of that junk around the web, if I even see it in a book I think I would tear it apart.

Unless it was a good artist like Toriyama. :D :D :D

most people still run western european based games, and anime art is inseperable (for those of us **ie. all of us here**) from our knowledge that such art is distictly asian.

I'm not sure which "all of us" you mean, but I can assure you that none of my clones have any such preconceived notions.

If i have a book talking about Knights in Full Plate Armor Jousting and i have an anime picture next to it, IMHO, it is adding an Anacronism? into the thought of the reader.

Try googling on "Lodoss" some time.

Somehow, I think spellcasting, especially at DnD power levels, would prove more disruptive to medieval Europe than weird people with spikey hair.
