I don't paypal so it might be hard for me to donate. How do the economics of your online store affiliation work? How much would it help if I bought a few books through there from time to time?

It certainly helps. I don't get much for each item purchased, but if a lot of people used it it'd make a noticeable difference.

I'll put my support behind all those who want to pay. I don't need the features, but it's a reasonable way of getting something back for your (voluntary :) ) donation.

I voted yes, though I don't care much about the features (with the possible exception of search), but would be willing to support the site. However as long as I don't have a credit card, this is only a theoretical option - international paypal accounts don't work without one:(

I would be willing to pay something, if it is not to much, about $1 or $2 a month would be fine. And some way to pay from holland without a credit card. Just the search is worth the little pay, and a custom title is extremely cool anyway :)

Paypal or bank

I don't like the idea of giving out my credit card number to an overseas Internet firm. However, I could easily send money directly from my bank account if I had an account to send it to. Is there anyway that this could function?

Do you Morrus prefer Paypal for any reason? Perhaps you love that "You've got cash!" message in your inbox (who wouldn't?). Or is it feasable that I wire cash from bank to bank?

I have no idea how this works but I want to learn how to do such things regardless.

PayPal's just convenient, especially given that I'm on a different continent to the majority of people here. Cheques won't really work - it'd cost me almost as much to cash each foreign cheque as te cheque itself is worth when you're dealing with such small figures.

Direct bank transfers - I guess it'd work, but it'd be a nightmare on the bookkeeping side. Having them all in one place (i.e. going to PayPal, logging in and seeing a nice simple list) is probably the most feasible way of doing it.

If I think of another way to do it, I'll let you know. :)

Does anyone know if you can transfer money from your bank to a Paypal account without having to resort to VISA?

I like my VISA, very much, but since the security differs from country to country I can't use it abroad.

Hi Frostmarrow, you can only transfer from a bank account to Paypal if you are in the USA. I live in Germany and use Paypal with my Mastercard and have not had a problem.

On another note Morrus. Have you considered the implications if someone has paid money to get the features and then starts having their threads shut down or they get banned what happens? I mean, once people are paying for a service, even if the base service is free it is an entirely different ball game.

i'm not reading all the preceding posts--that's your job, morrus. so this might have been suggested. i don't know if this software makes it possible, but if so, an idea would be to have the user limit, but exempt donating users so they can get in anytime. that way server utilization is still somewhat limited and the variable part is the paying part. but if the software can't do that, it's just another lame idea.
