Wow! I can't believe this! Thanks to all the reviewers!

Doug does good layout, so you are in good hands in that department.

Yeah, I really liked what he did with the borders. At first, I didn't want any to save time, but I'm glad he did it. They're beautiful. :)

This time though I think I'm going to start writing "first-level" rather than "1st-level" to avoid the margin issues we experienced.

Personally I liked that there was no "wasted space" at all in the Hamlet, you could've easily charged 150% more for the book and it would still be worth it.

I'm guessing that The Hamlet of Thumble could have easily been stretched to 96 pages and priced at $19.99, but I didn't want to change things too much from the solicitation specs.

Also, because it is a debut product for Open World Press, you want to get as many people interested as possible. There is indeed price sensitivity in the RPG market and I don't want to discourage anyone from picking up the book, especially younger people. I know when I was first playing D&D, the modules at $7 or $8 a piece felt pricey for my budget.

The Village of Oester is expected to be 64 pages at $15.99, which is slightly higher in price than The Hamlet of Thumble, but still a good value. If these two books do well, we can keep the price relatively low like this.

So, do we get a good and evil version? :D

nothing like helping the spread of necromancy.

Well, I wanted to have a party of ghoul PCs added in and then the editor talked about having just plain evil PCs to work the adventure from different angles. So, I can't say yet.

The good PCs from the last time will be returning, but updated to 3rd-level stats.

The discussion on necromancy involves biblical references in a more medieval black magic/demonology sense. Ack, I just thought another editing conundrum: religion! :(

Awesome! This just keeps getting better and better for me. Now I'll definately have the next place for my party to go after they clean up (or clean out in 1 person's case) the Hamlet. I love the inclusion of the "evil" side. That's like sprinkles on the icing on the cake. :D

I'll try to get those ghoul PCs in just for you. ;)

Now, if only someone can give me the stats on doing that...

You should tell your editor that the public (one person) is clamoring for undead PCs. :) I think that could be a good selling point: defeat the undead, or if you can't beat them there's always the other option....

Well, I was thinking of either having just ghoul PCs or convert the good PCs to what they would like as ghouls after having turned into their spawn. So, it's like the party that you're playing with confronts another party of PCs who failed and became ghouls themselves. What do you think?

The problem is I think ghoul's have an extra Level Adjustment. I don't have a copy of Savage Species, but anyone have an idea on how to convert characters into ghouls?

That sounds great. Even with the LA maybe the party doesn't have to encounter all 6 at one time. Maybe 2-3 here and 1-2 there, making it a little easier to combat. The failed party idea is good because it shows the PCs what happens when you fail against undead. Good going Ed! :D

Give the PCs some protective amulets against ghouls. Then make sure they notice that the "failed party" ghouls were wearing the exact same amulets... :o
