Wrestling coming to the Sci-Fi channel?

Well I'll say it isnt.

And it doesnt belong on the sci fi channel.

Then again I havent watched the channel in 2 years out of disgust, so I guess I dont give a crap.

You mean something like The Horror Channel coming this year, which is the U.S. version of the U.K.'s The Horror Channel ;)

The Horror Channel was originally supposed to make its debut on Halloween 2004. That came and went, and then they hoped for a '05 debut, and that came and went. Last bits I read on their forums (6 months ago or so,) they were talking of the feasiblity of satellite instead of cable, if I recall correctly, and were not giving a timetable for any sort of debut.

I don't think there is any sort of connection between the brit channel and this ons (or at least there didn't use to be.) I have read that the UK channel is loaded with a lot of repeats, and is well, not so good.

That happens to be entertaining.

I did not say it was not entertaning. But IMO it does not belong on Sci Fi. Why not have a wrestiling channel? Vince Mcmahan (sp?) has the cash to start one Himself.

Sci-fi missed the boat a few years ago when they had an opportunity to get a lock on all of the rebroadcasts of all of the Star Trek shows and didn't bid high enough. That would have fully entrenched them in the Sci-Fi area. Now they're having to scrape to fill air time.

WOW! I don't suppose you've dared to watch Boa vs Python?

I've sat through a lot of their crappy movies of the week, but they are still bettere than having the channel turned into something it's not. I'd much rather watch Boa vs Python or AI assault than turn on Sci-Fi channel and see Law and Order or wrestling. I've been and still am somewhat, a wrestling fan, but it doesn't belong on this channel. What next? Turn on CNN Headline news and find episodes of the A-Team? Turn on the Food channel and find Boston Legal repeats?

Well, I think it's mainly cause Vince probably doesn't want to pony all the money up himself. After the disastrous football league he tried out a couple of years ago, most investors are probably hesitant to back anything of that magnitude again so quickly.

I know I haven't exactly been subtle about my dislike of SFC in the past.

That said, this really stops and makes me think. No, not about how SFC sucks or about how they can't manage worth a damn.

What I'm starting to wonder is how much of SFC's failing isn't really their fault at all. I mean, if USA can pull the strings and put wrestling on SFC, maybe there's a lot more that's happening on a corporate level above SFC with regards to some of the stupidity.

Food for thought for today, I guess.

[edit]Darn, my 2500th post was not only not rude and not condescending, but a personal reflection of how I might have been wrong. I think I need to retire from the internet.

They also started showing a soap called "Passions" which in no way is science fiction either.

Well, if my wife is to be believed, it did incorporate witches and magic and a demonically-possessed ventriloquist doll and such, so it just might squeak in under the "Not Sci-Fi" wire.

If you ask me, I think SCI-FI is not economically feasible. It's not a popular genre these days, at least not enough to grab audience from HBO, Showtime, and (heaven forbid) the O! channels. I can understand why they need to broaden their premises, but I expect they'll finally come around to changing their network name, and SCI-FI will be no more.
