I think the X-Men movies are falling into the same trap the Batman movies did. The idea that more characters is better. Instead, I'd have liked to see them go the Spider-man route, and focus on a few core heroes, with but a single villain in each movie.
I think there was a risk of that, but Brian Singer fairly deftly worked around it so far by, yes, focusing on a small group of core heroes, despite the fact that the supporting cast was rather large. Of course, Brian Singer's off X3, and who knows what direction they're going now? With any luck, some of the spinoff movies, like Magneto (although, I have to admit, that's a pretty stupid name. I like just calling him Erich, myself...) may help provide the best of both worlds, but we'll have to see.

Gambit is a Cajun thief who has the power to charge non-living matter and make them go boom. He's suave, charming and not the least bit trust worthy, yet he's still more or less, a good guy. As for his romance with Rouge, no, he's not immune to her powers at all, in fact, Rouge learned some rather aweful things about his past by touching him. They sort of have an on again, off again thing going, since Gambit is not the most faithfull boyfreind a girl could ask for.

Now let's really blow his mind and tell him how Magneto and Rogue had a kid together. ;)

I am still pissed that they made Wolverine 6 foot plus... ;)

While Angel was not as popular as some on the the team you cannot irrate your fan base, I have never really cared for Gambit; why not make him a girl, X-Men as BSG had more than enough female characters to draw from, they do not have to change the sexes for the amount of air time they will be given.

I liked Angel better as Archangel, myself -- now that being Apocalypse's Horseman has all worn off (yeah, right, that's old Apocie, just planning for the short term) Warren has gone back to being pretty vanilla.
Mister Sinister as a villain would be incredibly, remarkably cool. I could just imagine him and Mystique going at it in a shapeshifter's duel. Probably give the CGI guys nightmares, though.

I love Storm the comic book character, but Halle Berry Storm deserves to go. So bland. Blech.

Conversely, I don't care much about comic book Cyclops, but would love to see movie Cyclops get more screen time.

Cyclops, Colossus, Iceman, & Nightcrawler are who I'd like to see more of.

I'd like to see Psylocke (the Betsy, not the Kwannon), Moonstar, Wolfsbane, Dazzler, mentally-unstable Polaris, Havok, Cannonball, Sunspot...(yes, I started with the New Mutants. #42, to be exact).

Villainwise...The Hellfire Club. And Sinister.

Cheers
Nell.

The X-men movies were better (i.e. less bland) than most of the other comic-inspired summer releases, largly because the underlying premise is more interesting and relevant that those other releases.

To that end, I hold to the notion that specfic continuity should be ignored unless it actually serves the interest of making a good movie. On a similar note, taking a buzzsaw to the cast would do a lot to furthing the franchise as good, smart, bigscreen fun and not simply convoluted nerd porn.

I really hope there isn't such a Wolverine focus in this one ...

the focus on his character makes me lose interest more than gain it... but then again, I guess I'm not the 'core target audience' which probably has a large wolverine fan base...
