Assuming you haven't seen this, it really should help you make up your mind.

In my opinion, the X-box is simply the better system. The games are getting better every day (with some very nice titles on he horizon) and I've personally had no trouble with my X-Box.

Besides, that's what warranties are for. ;)

Both lists have some crossover but the xbox list when I think of the xbox exclusive ones just looks better to me. And I have to say if those all actually make it out this year, then it will be a very good year for games. Also when a game is multiplatform the xbox is my system of choice.

And none of my systems have had any problems and my friend has both as well and none have had any problems.

Well, if we're all going to start coughing up anecdotal evidence, I can make that PS2 number skyrocket. I can't offer the same for XBOX, though, as I only know 3 people that own one...

With the price drops looming on the horizon I say get both!

Seriously tho, the early xboxs did have alot of read disk errors and failures. I also know of 4 ppl who lost xboxs to this problem and had nightmares dealing with Microsofts warranty process. My most common annoyance with the occurance of corrupt save files (Thanks Microsoft!)

Also, my first gen xbox leaves tiny scratches on DVD disks when I use it as a DVD player, something I dont do anymore.

But the Xbox games are getting better. Which is better is a matter of taste, but both consoles are going to have alot of good quality titles and are going to be around until the next gen of consloes come out. No worries about support like my poor Gamecube :(

As someone that has all three systems i can say that i've had luck with all my systems in terms of durability. That said when it comes to which system i think would last longest and i've heard people having less problems with its the Gamecube.

In terms of which system i play the most i'd have to say Xbox. Being a PC gamer i'm use to great graphics and a smooth frame rates and when games come out on all 3 systems they tend to be best on xbox (there are always exceptions of course) I also love the live online system.

My PS2 is used occationally though less since i got the xbox, but there are always games that are only on the ps2 like Final Fantasy, Grand Turismo and stuff like Ratchet and Clank.

My Gamecube gets used a little less then the xbox. It has really good games that are exclusive only to it. Stuff like Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Super Smash Brothers etc etc. as you can see its mostly nintendo fare which at $99 makes the system easily worth buying but i wouldn't want it as my ONLY system as you end up missing out on alot of games. I also love the wavebird wireless controller. EVERY system from here forward should have a wireless controller as good as it.

In the end i'd get an xbox and when $$ allows i'd get a gamecube as well.

I don't have an Xbox, but I've been very happy with my PS2. I got it in the first batch released in the US. I've done pretty much no maintenance or cleaning on it. It still plays games reliably and functions very well as a DVD player.

My $0.02 on selecting a system is to pretty much ignore the specs. The processor speed, memory, color palate, etc. are all pretty much irrelevant. This is more true with the latest systems, since you can't really tell the difference anymore.

The most important thing that should affect your decision is the game library. Which system has the kinds of games you like? Which has a larger selection of those games?

Well, doing some research has helped me determine which Xbox units are likely to have Samsung drives (based upon the serial number). If I can ensure that the unit I buy has a Samsung drive in it, I will likely go with an Xbox. I'm just not that keen on the controller that the PS2 uses. It just feels 'cheap' in my hands, like it would break at anytime.

I've looked over the game selections of both systems and there really isn't a lot of difference. Most games are cross-platform (I'm not worried about having a game right away from its release). I don't play the FPS games anymore because my eyes can't track the movement without causing migraines (old age). I will likely be playing only 3rd person perspective games and maybe one or two sports games. From what I've seen there isn't a difference in those games between systems in terms of availability.

I've never had any problems with anything but my xbox. After two years, it finally had some problem reading discs, so I had to send it in for repairs.

Owns all 3, and enjoys Ps2 slightly more, but respects all the systems...

Yeah. I have a GameCube, and I have minimal problems. I've had some people that tell me that they don't like the controller but I love it. The A button in the middle is so convenient. My only rant is that they should've duplicated the Z on the left side, and could've been able to press in the C-stick (would've helped with WindWaker to view First Person), and the C-stick should've been designed like the D-stick, too.

But anyway, if I had a second choice, I'd go X-Box. At first, I was apprehensive about the system itself, but I love the Online aspect (and wish there'd be more of that for GC), and the games (e.g. Halo, KotOR, etc.), and the Hard-Drive. I feel that it does the same a PS2 one does. I don't buy a lot of games; I've had a GC for more than a year and I only have about 6 or 7 games (3 of which are Zelda).

Amen. And, they should also be backwards-compatible.

xbox, and I never looked back. That was a year ago.

The games get better every year. The graphics are first rate - I bought the CVI interface for it, and it rocks. Can't say enough about it, really.

I'm sure PS2 is a fine console, too, but I'm infinitely happy with my xbox.
