Combat be gone.

The Combat Modes are now general powers, which can be sorta used as psionic combat, but not any more so than two wizards throwing fireballs at each other and casting Spell Shield to protect themselves...

If you really miss psi combat, Bruce Cordell did something called Mindscapes (I think) that has a version of it that is fairly good (the idea is that you create a separate realm where your avatars duke it out, and the avatar winning gives you a small bonus in the real world). It seems to be compatible with the XPH, although it was from before 3.5, I think.

Miss psionic combat? I suppose some might.

They ditched Psionic Combat and Psi-Crystals as default. My prayers were answered right there.

Heh. I never liked psionic combat much as it was written, so I took it upon myself to make it important and fun. Grabbing the mindscapes idea from Cordell, I streamlined things a bit, and made the mindscape a key plot point in my latest campaign.

The great thing is, it requires no conversion with the new XPH. I'll probably tweak it a bit so that some new things play in a little more prominently, but overall I'll keep my pseudo-Mindscapes as is.

I realy did not like the combat system as it was presented in the original PH(3.0). I was hoping they would rewrite it into a more useable system.

2Q's:
1: Just how good is Mindscapes? It is being redone & brought up to 3.5 standards with a new title: "Hyperconscious: Explorations in Psionics".
I am waiting to get that when it hits print.

2: You modified Mindscapes system. Could you post it?

Thanks,
Slingbld~
