(YBA) Kalath in Wicht's Lair (continued)

[Wicht]

As Kalath walks, he hears the skittering of rats ahead. After a ways he comes to an iron grate blocking the way. Looking through it, he sees nothing further but he does hear the rats. There is a hole in the bottom of the grate where it look incredibly like rats might have made a way for them to go through the grate.

Kalath heads back along the passage until he reaches the last intersection he came to, and he takes the path that branches off this time.

 

[Wicht]

Kalath heads back south down the sewers and then turns west. He passes over the mass of slime now lying dead and travels until he comes to the branch heading north. He takes this and as he travels northward he hears the sounds of scampering rats in the distance puncuated by the occassional splash of something being emptied into the sewers from above.

After a couple of minutes heading north, Kalath is aware that something is moving sluggishly through the sewers north of him. It sounds similar to the sound of the slime moving but not quite.

Kalath moves forward cautiously.

 

[Wicht]

As Kalath inches forward he notices the walls moving, and then realizes its actually slugs crawling on the walls. There seem to be hundreds of the small things, but then again some of them are not so small. Kalath watches one that is almost a foot longs and as thick as his arm crawling on the cieling above him.

Ahead, he sees that in truth what is moving through the tunnel is a giant slug of immense proportions. It rears up as tall as him and seems to have been grazing on the slime at the bottom of the tunnel. Behind it another one rears up just as big. The thick antennae at the top of their heads twitch and rotate towards Kalath.[/color]

Kalath approaches the slugs and readies himself for battle.

 

[Wicht]

The huge slugs stand still as Kalath moves towardst them. They seem almost none threatning despite their huge size. In fact, Kalath spies a rat moving amongst the smaller slugs on the floor cautiously. As Kalath moves further forward the Rat startles and flees.

Still the slugs stand more or less still, only their large antannae moving slowly back and forth. Kalath now sees that on the other side of the slug mass the sewer tunnel is a little cleaner.

Kalath tries to make his way around the slugs and get to the other side.

 

[Wicht]

The two huge slugs continue to "watch" as Kalath gingerly steps around them.

And then he is on the other side. He sees the walls are much cleaner though there is still a stream of "water" at the bottom of the tunnel that is less than appetizing.

Kalath continues northward.
