(YBA) Lovecraft in the Cathayan Tombs

Lovecraft will brush off the dead leaves from his skin and take a moment to rest. During this time he will listen and see if he can hear anthing. After that he will check out the sarcophagus.

 

[Ciaran]

Within the sarcophagus, beneath a layer of cobwebs, rests yet another bizarre mummy. Rough branches peer from its wrappings. Dull, withered needles and pine cones dangle from the ends of the branches. A layer of dirt and shed, dead needles lies at the bottom of the sarcophagus.

You do not know if it the light and heat of the torch, the warmth and breath of a living creature, or some peculiar innate sense in the thing, but yet again you see a mummy rise up from its coffin. It trails a mass of torn cobwebs behind it as it stands and moves towards you, its dead branches twitching obscenely.

Pine Mummy (3/3) attacks you: The oak wounds the waterfall; guards against the drive of the mire and brilliantly dodges the slash of the mountain!

As the things body rises out of the sarcophagus, Lovecraft reflexively attacks with a spear hand attack to its face.


The unicorn overwhelms the badlands; scatters the rising of the body!

OOC: LOL, I love the "scatters the rising of the body" part!

 

[Ciaran]

You bash at the thing repeatedly as it arises from its tomb. It blocks most of your blows, but you nonetheless manage to inflict 1 hit on it.

As the undead lurches toward you, the wrappings over its chest writhe. What appear to be twigs push their way free of the wrappings in a sifting of dirt. Then the wrappings part, revealing that what appeared to be twigs are, in fact, the dessicated limbs of some sort of giant unliving spider, which leaps forth to join the attack!

Unliving Spider (1/1) attacks you: The spider rends the waterfall; reduces the aggression of the feline!

Pine Mummy (2/3) attacks you: The fang quells the well; quells the stab of the shell!

Seeing the new threat, Lovecraft calmly punches the Unliving Spider.


Unliving Spider:The northstar calmly sucker punches the beach; averts the aggression of the holy ground!

 

[Ciaran]

You calmly sidestep the mummy’s assault and crush the undead spider with a single blow. The mummy attacks you again:

The mantis breaks the labyrinth; shields against the quickening of the settlement! *yen*

Lovecraft grapples with the mummy in hopes of breaking its limbs.

 

[Ciaran]

You grapple with the mummy, inflicting 1 hit. You hear snapping sounds come from the thing. Pulling free, it edges towards you cautiously, and you wonder if there is some strange, foul sentience lurking within its crumbling, wood-tainted brain.

The hidden dagger flips on top of the desert; shields the terror of the tides!


Lovecraft leaps over the mummy with a flip, striking at it's head as he passes over it.

 

[Ciaran]

Leaping past the mummy, you smack it with your torch. In moments, it flares up into a walking bonfire, then collapses into a steaming, smoldering heap. Black ooze bursts forth from its torso as it hits the ground.

You gain 3 hits defeated.

(If I calculate correctly, you should now have 11 hits defeated. This gives you 1 more natural hit, 5 experience points for you to spend on powers, and one remaining hit defeated to apply towards your next level. Alternatively, you may convert that remaining hit defeated to .5 experience points (to be spent now, presumably on Fated) or to .5 yen.)
