Yet another "4.0 impressions" thread

The DMG does put it forth as pretty much the villains will be evil, and obviously they spend their feats on other stuff ;)
Actually, I have to say that this is one of my favorite minor details in the DMG: no more super-complex NPC building! I LOVE the idea of just saying, "ok, now your villains would probably make intelligent feat selections and all that, but instead of spending hours crafting what amounts to another PC, just take their normal stats and add +X based on their level."

Brilliant! I wish I'd have thought of this 5 years ago.

I guess i'm wierd then, going on 26 and i really want to see more nudity, not just in D&D but pretty much everywhere.
26 only makes you an adult in the legal sense.

Being an adult in the social (or any other sense) is a seperate thing entirely.

Re: nudity
Like I said, it's not good, but it's not bad. I understand why they did it, but I'm ready for the supplement that caters to adult audiences, please.
As an adult** the 3 core books appealed to me just fine.

** In the legal sense. I'm not going to claim anymore than that.

Let's not pretend "being an adult" has anything to do with taste or wants in our entaintment.

You make a number of good points, and have made a reasonable conclusion based upon your analysis and preferences in gaming.

Have fun with 4e!

I guess i'm wierd then, going on 26 and i really want to see more nudity, not just in D&D but pretty much everywhere. People are far too uptight about skin, real or art. its always been a huge component of fantasy art to have some skin showing and i dont particularly like the watering down of gaming in general that WoTC has done.
I'm 37 and I agree with you.

Very good read!

I have to admit I agree with a great deal of it, though I found the art to be pretty exceptional. Though art is one of those entirely subjective things.

I hadn't really thought about how the big fights and higher levels will go. I don't know why but I'm thinking of house-ruling in some higher damage on some beasties if things actually do start to drag out. I can certainly see what you mean here, however I haven't run anything past level 2 yet and my group and I made a pact to not alter anything until we get a first hand try at it.

And indeed, I see a house-rule coming in for some skill checks. Simple things like balancing on a chair while carving a gem out of statue is going to definitely be a fixed DC.

Yeah, ditto! 4e is "teh awesome"!

I believe that is a guy thing. Maybe the other poster saying there was too much nudity is a woman? Would make sense that way.
I'm a guy. If I want nudity or porn there are outlets for this.

I'm pretty damn happy I can crack open the core books on the bus, in a park, public library, etc without upsetting easily offended busybodies.

Not that I mind offending easily offended busybodies, but agian, when I want to do that their are magazines and books I can bring along for that purpose. I personally prefer teh nudity to stay outs of my RPGs.

With the exceptions of those it is specifically called for. Macho Women With Guns, Book of Erotic Fantasy, et al.
