55e is happening because WOTC was more or less milking the core 3 books for sale for 9 years and they having invested enough into other streams to keep sales up when the core hits saturation.

5.5e is just them trying to milk the new core.

But there's no way that'll last 10 like the 2014 ones because the 2023 ones are still stick to paradigms and models that are 10 years old.

I am jaded I realize but new editions are about money. I do not think people be dissatisfied means anything to WOTC until it impacts sales or until WOTC thinks the market is saturated and more money can be had with new material.

Now I f you are suggesting more people will buy due to dissatisfaction I will listen but need data.

No, but it also isn't the whole fighter class. What's the satisfaction with the battle master?

So? Nothing to connect that to a lack of balance.

I would suggest that it's lack of buttons makes it a bit dull. Still, more people are satisfied with it than are not.

That's kind of the problem with pointing out potential flaws in 5th edition. It's so darned successful that just about any flaw can be ignored because it doesn't really matter.

There's a difference between "this is crap" and "this can be improved". A vocal minority insist on the former despite lots of people liking what the complainers consider "crap". The latter is just reality because just about everything can be improved, especially after 9 years of experience and learning.

Did you know that the majority of car accidents happen close to home? In the US it's within 25 miles - I guess people just get careless when they're near home. Or it's just because people typically drive 25 miles or less on any given day. More people play fighters, therefore more people have ideas on how to improve them. I've never actually seen this referenced survey, I don't know how it was worded or even what the actual results are.

I like my bicycle and I've had it for ... well a long time. A dual suspension mountain bike, it's pretty awesome and I'm not looking forward to finally putting it out of the way for winter. But if I could change things about it? You bet I have suggestions! Tires I don't have to pump up once a week (typical of all bikes) are at the top of my list, along with a freakin' kick stand because those weren't a thing on "adult" bikes when I bought it and the ones you can add don't fit the frame. Oh, and modern bikes weigh significantly less, that would be nice too.

Doesn't mean I don't enjoy riding my bike, or playing the current implementation of fighters. It just means that there's room for improvement. Because there always will be.

you might have a point if we were talking about absolute numbers, like your car accidents, but we are talking about percentages. Every class has enough people playing it to have some who think about how it could be improved, not many get a satisfaction rating in the 50s, let alone 20s

Sadly, that wasn't on the slide shown, so I cannot answer the question. I suspect they were zeroing in on the ones that had the lowest satisfaction rates. (IIRC, the Fighter class overall was also low, but I would need to dig through the recent threads to find the image.)

Given how poor the balance is, any improvement would result in more balance at this point.
