He's gone, mon amie. Now, however, present matters. A world is out there, needing proactive heroism.

Well put.

Just remember, though - and I'm serious here - that the past comes back to haunt you. That is *especially true* in the Forgotten Realms.

I am gonna be one of the naysayers and assert that keeping track of a plethora of x/whenever abilities is going to be even more work on the PC's part than in 3e. I grok'd the new 4e character sheet examples and my head just spun around and around with the tactical possibilites of a FIRST level character; so many modifiers and abilities and boosts to keep track of...

I like complexity in my characters. I do tend to front-load and multi-class (or Gestalt) characters because I never know if I'll ever play them long-term; I want to be able to do what I want for the character NOW instead of LATER. 4e does look like it's going in that general direction, which is good, but having countless (and often unused) modifiers to track is going to be a huge p.i.t.a. (nom nom).

Oh yes... so true... and I experienced it myself.

. . . I used to be a cautious optimist. DDXP has made me a lot moe cautious and quite less of an optimist up until now. The rest thing just bugs me so badly:(

And if Amaunator subsumed Lathander and the Risen Sun heresy won, I might actually cry :\

You know, that kind of things bug me....Real life show you a few lessons as you age - one of them is that things at times don't go as you planned, or you would like. Fataly, with changes will come changes that you won't like.

But such are often needed, or undodgeable.

If they make a strong case, if they show the fluff behind it, I will accept it.

C'est la vie, mon ami. And believe me, I understand - the rumors about Eilistrae, Vhaurun's 'death', all that.... But it's how life work. You don't always get what you'd like, and you must learn to accept such things.
