Your favorite templates

Bloodstained, Entomanothrope, Skitterhaunt, Corpsewraith

So where can I find these? I don't want direct links, but rather the titles of the articles (and menus the titles are under).

Bloodstained, Entomanothrope, Skitterhaunt, Corpsewraith are all neat--and free from WotC.

Can you tell me where the Corpsewraith template is? I keep the list here of WotC website monsters, but I don't have that one.

Hag Templates, Unhallowed, and yes, Fatlings. Probably the best from the CC Revised. (Especially since CC 1 didn't have any. :p)

Hmm you know made I should have bought a CCR when I was still running a campiagn.

I have used four converted hags, two fatlings and an unhallowed in my campaigns, modifying most of them to suit. (one fatling was a brown gorger priest, one hag an ex-halfling psion) The ideas were great, but needed alterations to fit my homebrew. Templates would have been just the thing.

Fav Tempaltes -
I don't use many besides the obvious Celestial/Fiendish summoned creatures
I don't like the crossbreeding maina, preferring a magical explination to biological. Give me a good story like the CC did and I am pulled in.

I loves me some templates.

I particularly love the Spellstitched, and was tickled chartreuse when it was updated in Complete Arcane.

I also like the "sorta-templates" they give in Libris Mortis..the stuff like the fast zombie and the burning skeleton. They're not full templates, but...variations, I guess. Which end up pretty much being the same thing in practice. I'd like to see more of these variations rear their heads (and not just for undead).

Bump. Can we have the addresses of the templates, please?

Another favorite template of mine is from Genjitsu's Shaping the Self, the Stonebones Curse. Through levels, it slowly turns the person into a gargoyle.

Hey Psion

My own Sangrolu and Elder Vampire templates

Lich, vampire

Hag from CC revised

Bloodless from CC2

Chaos Spawn from Portals & Planes

How about sending me your elder vampire...I am running an Undead based campaign starting tomorrow night. I need some cool BBEG's that are different.

If anyone else has any cool undead, homebrewed, I'd love to see them, and use them if it's cool...

Thanks,

Skitterhaunt is from a Far Corners of the World article. The Hidden Depths Below: Monsters of the Deep Underdark.

Entomanothrope is from the What's Bugging You? Random Encounter.

Never heard of the other two, and Google turns up nothing on the WotC website.

The two I have enjoyed the most

Elemental templates from Book of Templates (original not deluxe). No spell-like abilities or 1/day smiting for any of them and a definite elemental feel.

Barrow Wight (Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary). Lot of important NPCs and even a PC turned into wights and keeping their old experience and most of their powers.

The Book of Fiends Web Enhancement also has a nice set of demonic/daemonic/devilish templates to supplement fiendish and provide some more variety for summoned creatures.

Oh yeah, and the Ravenloft Campaign setting has some great templates in it, advancing elder vampires by age categories, more options for ghosts and lycanthropes, etc.

It is hard to say which templates are my favorite, since I've been trying for some time to "collect them all" ;) There are some that are not as well executed as others, but that goes for anything. I'm more in love with the concept and general structure of templates themselves. To me, the best ones have a good and unique concept/flavor paired with simple and balanced stat adjustments. There's nothing like turning players' preconceived notions on their ears and watching the reactions.

As far as naming names I like (from a flavor/utility perspective):
half-humanoid (BotDE)
fossegrim (Bestiary)
skeleton warrior (ToH)
pseudonatural (ELH)
ooze host/puppeteer ooze (BotDE)
metallivore (BotDE)
axiomatic (MotP)
reptilian & insectoid (SS)

There are many more, but those cover the basics.
