Lolth is the official name of the goddess in GH and FR.

Lloth is a goof by RA Salvatore (love ya, Bob!) that the novels editors didn't catch or correct for quite some time. Later novels explained it (by a sage encountering Drizzt) as a variant name local to Drizzt's home city of Menzoberranzan ... just as the barbarians of Icewind Dale use the name "Tempos" for the god "Tempus."

Just because there are a bunch of novels that propagate that error doesn't mean we should make that error official. Heck, if we did that, we'd have to change how most spells work in the game.... ;)

I like to pronounce Lolth "Satanica Pandemonium".

Just seems to fit.

Plus should they ever make a drow movie, Salma Hayek would make a good Drow High Priestess/Lolth.

Mmmmm, Salma....

Er, anyway, I always thought Grace Jones would make a great Drow Priestess. I also would have liked to see her play Storm in the X-Men movies instead of Halle Berry.

Kane (who started reading the X-Men back in the mohawk Storm days)

This is how we got the word: LITE

In the Drow War trilogy, the spider Goddess of the Drow is simply called 'She'.

Officially, it's because of the reverence in which they hold her; her name may only be spoken on the most sacred of ceremonial occasions, by the duly ordained officer, at the proper time and in the proper manner.

Unofficially, it's short for 'She who may not be named for legal reasons'.
