You've bought a new book now what do you do?

A) echoing others in present the book to the DM outside of the group. Be prepared for a No.
B) I'll incorporate it into my game as I see the need, letting the players know in advance.

I see others mentioning that they wait until a campaign reboots before allowing new material in.....I wish I could do that, but my games usually take years. Heck, one game I am in has been running since the 80s. Thus I can understand waiting until an adventure is over, but I'm not going to wait until a campaign is done.

As a player I usually ask the DM if he'd mind if I buy whatever book I'm interested in. Then we pool all the books together so everybody has access to them.
