D&D 5E Monster Manual and Players Hand Book Power Levels

Hi Scott I think you're comparing 5E monsters vs 3E characters. The bonuses to attack do not get nearly as high for 5E characters. Try to create a 17th level fighter (remember 5E has fewer and weaker magic items) and see how he stacks up against that Blue Dragon.

D&D 5E Class and Background combos

Infernal Warlock with the Criminal background. Originally just a common thief, but maybe she stole something she shouldn't have, that gave her access to a whole new world. Or maybe she stole from someone, who turned out to be less than human and now she's on the run trying to gather as much...

    D&D 5E Ranger

I can understand the desire for a more martial ranger, less reliant on spells. I personally don't have an issue with the spells, but couldn't you look at a lot of the spells as simply abilities that the ranger draws upon? Hunter's Mark, Volley, etc. They are just done using the mechanics of...

Everyone, Tell us about your games, please!

1.) 4 players right now. Maybe a fifth joining at the end of the summer. 2.) I've done only a few times, but I would like to do it more. 3.) All but one player likes to DM, so we actually shout shotgun when the current DM "retires". 4.) All male. 5.) Got two. Fantask and Faraos' Cigarer...

Watch For Falling Meteors [4E KotS] Updated Weekdays!

An enjoyable read so far :) I really like your writing style. Is it on purpose that you have an all martial party?

    Rangers and bastard swords

I have no problem with it. It's balanced first of all. Second, flavourwise I imagine a ranger using bastard swords is not using large medieval type swords, but rather something more of a katana. And then it's a cool image.

    Your username's origin?

My name is an anagram of my real name. It's the only really understandable anagram you can get out of my name. I discovered it some years ago and now likes to use it on different message boards.

Where is Monte Cook from? (Also, where are *you* from?)

I grew up and still live in Denmark, virtually on the border to Germany (That's the green thing on the map.). Thanks for borrowing the map ;)

What has gaming done for you?

What I can thank RPG for Well, in rpg there is a lot to read, especially if you're from a non-english speaking country. I'm better at English now than my fellow students here i Denmark because I read a lot more. I think rpg also has helped my understand complex systems.

    Ideas for victorian campaign needed.

(My first thread, so be gent.. whatever) I’m planning to run a campaign set in late 19. century. The setting will be much like the graphic novel, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It will be the Victorian Age, but with a twist, i.e. air-pirates, submarines, Dracula, Jekyll/Hyde, etc. The PC...

    [October] What Are You Reading?

Have just closed Stardust by Neil Gaiman. A very nice little tale which I enjoyed very much. Next I'm going to read some comics. 1602 #1-8 from Marvel written by... Neil Gaiman ;) I seem to have Mr. Gaiman on my mind right now, but it's okay. As long as he pays me to advertise on differet...

    Euro 2004 Football discussion

0 - 0 Hmm, a draw. Before the match, I would be glad with 0-0, but now I'm a little disapointed. :\ If we'd just got a goal in the first half, we would have won. PS That referee should be banned. He had some very weird judgments to both teams, as if he just "had" to be the center of attention.

    Euro 2004 Football discussion

England - France Well, nothing is "fair" in soccer. I rather liked the result. I had a bet with a friend. I said 1-2, and he said 2-0. So when it was 1-0 and the english got a penalty kick, I wasn't in a good mood. But now I can mock him for some time with that incredible ending. At least until...

Where you live: Gamer Paradise or Gamer Wasteland?

I'm in a Wasteland. :\ The rare few gamers around would rather play LARP or RPG without any system. The nearest gamingstore is 15 miles away, but in Germany, so alot of the products are translated from English to German. Not something I want. So for me the nearest proper store is like 100...
