The Oracle told Roy that Belkar would die before the end of the year. Roy is saying that there are seven weeks left in the year. Now, that doesn't mean that they actually WILL beat Xykon within that time, but since they want Belkar's daggers as added muscle, they're going to try.

I think he thinks his Afterlife was "locked in" at the moment of final death and nothing he does will change it. I also happen to think that he's wrong, and he's going to do all of this only to end up banished to Limbo or someplace due to his posthumous actions.

I think most people are assuming the bird's death will be at Xykon's hands, not the Snarl's. The question will be when Xykon notices it: before or after the bird is above the rift?

Anyone want to lay odds on the Xykon vs. the familiar? As I see it, V and O-Chul need to occupy Xykon for at least 3 rounds in order for Blackwing to get to the rift. If he notices the bird before that, though, I think the bird is probably toast.
