DM's Note: Again, not much I can say about the Tribes of Zell as a political entity. But I can give some details about the dead god known as Zell. He was a Sword God before the Divinity War started but switched sides to join the North Gods. He fell in love with the young goddess Hela and swore fealty to Cronn. He died at the hands of his brother, Amand †. His death was the first act in the start of the Divinity War.

The tribes that still follow his teaches are considered outcasts. Followers of the Sword Gods consider them traitors and they aren't 100% accepted by followers of the North Gods, although they are considered stout warriors by martial North God worshipers. Follows of Hela tend to pity them and very few among the tribes pay homage to the fallen goddess.

† Armand died during the Divinity War and Hela is now considered a trapped goddess. Her essence was merged into the Sword Gulf by the evil goddess Thera (who also died during the godwar).

DESINON FOREST
The Desinon Forest covers almost all of the Shantil Peninsula and much of the Helik Peninsula. At the heart of the forest is Lake Desinon, a fresh water lake that is fed from the Aragar Mountains. The lake rarely freezes over completely due to the natural hot springs/vents that bubble up from the lake bed. (The lake freezes over only when the temperature drops below -30° Celsius.)

The cold of the north combined with the heat from the heated underground water makes the Desinon Forest a contradiction of foliage, animals, monstrous denizens, and intelligent peoples. Silver 'wild' elves and firbolgs are common throughout the forest, which feels almost subtropical during the summer months.

The ruined lands of the Shantili Shore was once a bastion of good in the Northlands, but it was devastated during The Transformation. The city of Kaldtskår (called Coldstone in Harqualian) was devoured by the mists of the magical event and more than half of its population simply disappeared into the mists. After the city was ruined, the ruler of the Blightlands, The Lord of Decay, had his soldiers move in and wipe out the remaining towns of the Coldshard Lands. While the Shielded Northlands tried to help the Shantili, they were hard pressed themselves by the expansionist overlord of the Blightlands. The denizens of Dragonmount did not come to their aid and this has left many of the Shantili bitter towards the Aragar Tribes.

The few Shantili that were left soon found themselves without a home. The soldiers of the Blightlands took many of them back to the Blasted Reach as slaves. Others escaped southeast along the shoreline to reach the Shielded Northlands or fled south into the Desinon Forest north of the Aragar Mountains. However, a handful of the Shantili refused to give up their homeland and continue to live in the region in scattered tribes. Their are so few of these people left in the Northlands that their culture is at risk of being lost.

After the Coldshard Lands were being destroyed, a new group of humans emerged from the mists of The Transformation. These people were not the devoured Shantili but humans brought from another world. The Sjófolk, or Sea People, are from a world that is shrouded in ice and water with almost no true land – a water world. They call their home world the Great Frozen Ocean and believe that their world isn’t in a spherical world but a vast flat demiplane where the skies are filled with auroras and a multitude of stars. There is no true daylight on their home world. All there is a sliver of perpetual dusk at the horizon.

Along with the Sjófolk came other beings from the Great Frozen ocean known as Brenglast, or as the Sea Peoples call them, The Distorted. These strange semi-bipedal creatures are considered to be deadly foes that can turn a Sjófolks soul against his or her tribe. Most Harqualians who have met the Brenglast think they might be some sort of fey creature, although their bodies are hardly beautiful. Their bodies appear twisted and their faces look pained. Yet, they have beautiful voices that can be haunting to hear. The Brenglast don’t seem to have evil intent but the Sjófolk insists that Brenglast cannot be trusted.
