Heroic Science Fiction For 5E With Esper Genesis Basic

Written by Rich Lescouflair and published by Alligator Alley Entertainment, Esper Genesis is an RPG subtitled Heroic Sci-Fi Roleplaying. The cover bears a "5E Compatible" stamp, and indeed this game presents what is essentially the current edition of D&D reskinned for over-the-top space opera gaming.

RPG Crowdfunding News 063: Tiny Dungeon 2e, Devil’s Swamp, The Dare, Burial Plots, Jigsaw Fantasy, F

Welcome back to our weekly look at tabletop roleplaying game, and accessories, crowdfunding roundup! Each week we’ll be looking at a few campaigns currently running that have caught our eye as well as occasionally speaking to some of the creators about their campaigns, or looking at some of the ‘behind the scenes’ business aspects of putting together, launching, operating and then delivering a crowdfunded project. If you have anything you’d like us to cover, or questions about anything we talk about, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or contact me directly.

Spicing Up Adversaries With The Fate Adversary Toolkit

The Fate Adversary Toolkit, the latest in the Toolkit line of supplements for Fate Core from Evil Hat Productions, opens up some interesting new avenues for your Fate games. Written by Ed Turner and Brian Engard, one of the architects of the Fate Core rules, this supplement widens the scope of the adversaries that characters can face in Fate Core games. Building off of the idea of the Fate Fractal and expanding the idea of adversaries beyond being a character or a creature that you can get into a conflict with during a game session, the Fate Adversary Toolkit brings some smart new ideas to the gaming table.

Xanathar's Guide to Everything's Samurai Subclass

I really didn't think the Samurai would make it, it felt mechanically redundant with the Knight, plus they already had two fighter archetypes, the Arcane Archer and the Cavalier. I'm curious as to what it's final mechanics look like.

7th Sea Goes East...with the Khitai Kickstarter

Two years ago John Wick broke all the records for a Tabletop Roleplaying Game Kickstarter when 7th Sea: Second Edition raised $1,316,813. Now he returns to the world of Theah in this brand new standalone RPG that expands the setting to new shores. Welcome to Khitai.
The weekly EN Publishing news roundup includes some terrifyingly disgusting Abolithic Servitors for 5th Edition games, four new knightly orders for Pathfinder cavaliers, the latest episode of Turn Order: Warped (with a new cast member!) and some previews of WOIN's upcoming Xenomorph 2: The Fall of Somerset Landing!
Making a change from all those lovely pictures of Jeremy Crawford on EN World's front page, this time it's Mike Mearls who speaks to D&D Beyond about the Cleric Forge Domain in Xanathar's Guide, along with some interesting observations about baked potatoes.

Gaming To The Rescue -- RPG Hurricane Relief Roundup

As is always the case when tragedies such as the hurricanes that recently swept the Gulf and Caribbean happen, several gaming companies decided to selflessly contribute to the recovery efforts. To generate funds, they're offering a variety of RPGs and supplements for sale and contributing the proceeds to a range of charitable organizations.
Back in August, WotC named ten "Adepts" whose products on their DM's Guild storefront they would be promoting and highlighting, and who would get advance access to adventures in order to product at-launch compatible content for them. Now, various Adepts have mentioned on Twitter that theirs - and other Adepts' adventures - are now legal for the D&D Adventurer's Guild. Those products will now feature the DDAL logo (shown below).

Who Needs Iconics Anyway?

One of the challenges posed in introducing role-playing to newcomers is in relating the near-limitless possibilities of the player's persona -- the player character -- and what that might look like. Enter iconics, which existed long before the Third Edition Dungeons & Dragons branded them. What's an Iconic?Broadly, iconics are recurring characters that are used in examples of play. There's...

Pre-Order DLC comes to D&D with Xanathar's Guide to Everything

Anyone who plays videos games knows pre-order bonuses for those willing to pay in advance of product launch. WotC's official toolset, D&D Beyond, is adopting this practice with 16 bonus feats exclusive to those who pre-order Xanathar's Guide to Everything on D&D Beyond.
Frank Mentzer's Kickstarter for his Worlds of Empyrea setting launches next week. With a pantheon of TSR luminaries and a setting designed for ten different game systems, this project is truly ambitious and epic scope. Frank was kind enough to talk to me about his plans!

Can You Be A Good Dog? Play Pugmire And Find Out

Pugmire is a fantasy game that has gone to the dogs. Not just dogs, but also cats, rats, badgers and lizards as well. Set in a far future world that has reverted to the tropes of medieval fantasy, you play characters that are on a quest to become a "good dog."
