Questions on Limited Wish - How limited?

There are a number of positions and opinions on Limited Wish.

Regulating which spells it can emulate is easy, they're spelled out.

The question is the part that follows, where it says something to the effect of "... or any other magical effect of similar power".

Is there any official guide line, outside the spell description itself, that might help clarify this?

For example, it says that if the spell emulated has a component that costs more than 1,000 gp, the caster must supply it. This implies that the caster could Limited Wish for something up to 1,000 gp in value as a straight conjuration/creation effect.

Is that actually supported anywhere?

I don't believe so.

Ceating 1000 gp of wealth may not be out of line for a 7th level spell, though.

A Wall of Iron spell at CL13 generates 81.25 cubic feet of iron. At 485 pounds per cubic foot, that is 39406.35 pounds. Iron sells for 1 sp/pound in 3.5e, so that's 3940.625 gp generated per casting.

There is an initial cost of 50 gp for material components, so the net profit is 3890.625 gp.

You could do that anyway by emulating Fabricate, couldn't you?

Fabricate shapes things. It doesn't create or conjure anything.

Specifically it allows you to apply Craft type skills to raw materials, just as if you took the time and applied your skill. It just does it instantly. You still have to make skill checks, and in fact you're at something of a penalty: You don't get to apply modifiers like having a good workshop, having assistants to "Aid Another" or having master worked artisan's tools. (Since you don't use any of those things when casting the spell, it's hard to rationalize getting any advantage from them.)
