Death in Freeport 3.5 Re-Recruiting (Closed)

I forgot to post my vacation plans in this thread as well, I was at the beach with my family, not Origins and will be getting caught back up at work again today and tomorrow I expect to start up IC again on Thursday or maybe tomorrow night.

:) Going to fix that!

Going to go armor less to start?

Btw I don't own Wilderlands and never played FF so the reference material you are riffing on will be completely new to me.:)

Yeah, might fit the concept. So, the char's first mission will be to find a good blacksmith or to loot a fallen enemy...;)

:) There's a mongol prince Justini held hostage in his castle by an angry harem lady of his, IIRC. I always wanted to insert him into my Blackmoor PbP over at the Zeitgeist page, but never found the right moment, so now he's coming to Freeport. "Pat" is a reference to my good friend and Greyhawk internet legend "Maraudar".

*Ducks for cover.*

-EDIT: Update done! :)

Ivid, have you read the Info thread, that is basically the information Brother Egil will give you on the plot. If you have any questions on stuff in there ask away,

Do you have a background reason Brother Egil turns to you and you will help him out?

Once those two things are set I think we are good for you to show up near the Rusty Tankard with a description of Dogrynn, Acata, Wilbur, and Anton and the code word Thoth to let them know you are working for Brother Egil and will join their efforts.

:D:D:D Jay!!! I really burning to join!

I think I have no questions on the plot so far, except for we exactly are in the tavern. - We are first to find Scarbelly, no?

As to Justin's hook, I am not sure:

- Given the background you gave us on Egil, maybe he could be from Brindinford, maybe his parents were even involved with the royal family somehow, and he and Justin had been playmates as children. So, maybe
he told Justin about his worries when the bard made a surprise visit.

- Alternatively, maybe Justin's old fencing teacher, the reason for my chara's
original visit to Freeport, had left a note that anyone having urgent business with him should address Brother Egil.

:) Would one of those options be acceptable?

The second works better I think, Brother Egil was given up to the Athenaeum in Freeport as a young child by his dirt-poor parents and was raised in the Athenaeum so childhood friend of a foreign prince does not quite fit. Helping out the foreign fencer is par for the course for Egil though.

Lucius went to the Fried Pufferfish tavern asking about Captain Scarbelly and then to the Rusty Tankard.

At the Rusty Tankard the barman Ken said he'd never seen anyone like Lucius but Jinny the barmaid said Ken lied, Lucius had been in and talked to an orc who's a regular.

The party is going to tail the orc after he leaves the Rusty Tankard.

:) Perfect! I'll then write my entrance into the action right now!:D

ein Platz für einen Kleriker frei geworden. Kannst dich da ja mal melden, falls du interesse hat. (Hoffe das 'du' ist ok.)
We abyssal speakers must hold together ;) [/sblock]

[sblock]Aber klar, nenn' mich einfach Rafi. :)

Und vielen vielen Dank für den Hinweis! Werde mich gleich mal dort melden!

Or, in your more common tongue: "Praised be Orcus!"[/sblock]

Are you still recruiting?

I'd like to try my hand at Truenamer (I believe from Tome and Magic, but need to check)...there are plenty of errata on that one however...

But still, it would be fun to play and plenty of Feat options should come handy too...

Oh, and I verstehe Deutsch auch, obwohl ich mein Muttersprache fuer Truenamer benutzen wuerde.
Translation:
so, I understand german (should I take Abyssal as language? ;) ), but I plan on using my mothertongue for Truenamer staff...it woud look like this :)
Die, you orc worm! : Umri orshki crve!

Hello Neurotic!:) Sorry its been a little slow responding here, connection issues have been a problem lately that new servers will hopefully correct.

A truenamer fits in well with the Athenaeum and potentially with secret cults. I remember thinking the truenamer flavor was great but the mechanics looked a bit iffy, though I'm willing to test them out.

If you are still interested please write up a background and a connection to Brother Egil and we will move to character construction from there.

Truenamer

Yes, I saw that people generaly consider the class underpowered, with faulty mechanics, but I find it interesting enough to try...

There are several "fixes" I'll give you the links so you can read if anything strikes you playtest worthy...

What level do I start at? Starting wealth, attributes etc...I assume I use the rules from the start of this thread?

Short history overview: Logan is innkeeper's third son with no inheritance rights so he apprenticed himself to local library as scribe. All was well, he was tested for magical aptitude by local priest of Deneir and local mage (names in full version) and showed no magical ability. He was, however, devotedly religous taking teachings of Deneir. He read practically whole library, until one day grey cloaked figure exited from one archway Logan considered ornamental. This was his introduction to Deneir scribes, he was taken to see Portal of Written Word and initiated into search for Metatext learning first sylables of True Language...

May I send questions and character by e-mail? I tend to write in severeal burst over the course of day because I'm at work so longer texts are not realy practical.

Oh, and thank you :) I can post essentialy every day except weekends. Also, I'm at GMT +1 so I'm posting with half a day advance :)
