[Recruiting (CLOSED)]Heroes of the Middle Reaches[4E : Wandering Star]

Sweet!

Okay, so we have 2 strikers, 1 defender, 1 leader and 1 controller. Anyone have thoughts on what class I should pick?

I'm all for a second defender, just for tactical purposes. To stay true to your character concept, you might even take the rogue multiclass feat. Just a thought. The most important part is that you play a character and class that you'll enjoy.

Yeah, I think Defender is the best choice - probably fighter as we already have a paladin. If you go with Ranver the half-a-rogue we might be over-endowed with roguey abilities so perhaps take Pip and concentrate on fighter (Charlie would just love to have her own personal bodyguard),

And since he'll have at least reasonable Dex he might try a bit of Ranger later on.

Classwise I would vote for a second defender or leader.

And I like Ranver a bit more (rogue isn't the only multiclass possibility). It is more the character Jorje would know ;)

But both concepts are good.

Hmm. This is my first 4e character for pbp and actually my first 4e character for myself (I've been only DM'ing so far) so please check through it. I'm not sure I remembered everything...

St 16 14+2 = 5
Con 12 =2
Dex 11 =1
Int 12 =2
Wis 14 =5
Cha 16 (14+2) =5

Looks like you are 2 short.

Also I understand it is probably best not to go equal on St and Cha.
If you want an Avenging Paladin make str higher, if a Protecting Paladin make Cha higher.
If you look at the vatious powers they tend to be one or the other

I Suggest perhaps

St 18 (16+2) 9
Cha 14 (12+2) 2 or vice versa. That leaves 11 points for the other stats.

Wisdom and Con are most useful of the others so I would say 14 each (cost 10 total). That leaves 1 for either Dex or Int (to 11) leaving the other at 8. That is a bit min-maxing so I don’t know how you feel about that. Perhaps a more RP view would be 14 for either Wis or Con, 13 for the other (cost 8), then 1 to Int (11) and 2 to Dex (10) or vice versa.

Skills: if you go the Cha route then Intimidate looks useful as you can force an enemy to surrender.

BTW I’ve only just barely started 4e myself so please check what I’ve suggested - just in case, I could be talking a load of Bol**cks

The thing here is that you start with one score at 8. That's where the 2 points go ;)

Yeah, I intentionally took the two as same since I'm going pretty much middle of Avenging and Protecting Paladin. I looked through the powers of heroic tier and it looks I'm going to go with choices where both are equally important.

As for raising con, I think you might be right here. I have to look into it...

Oops! Of course. I didn't take in that you had raised the 8 up before starting the others, you're absolutely correct - consider me suitably chastised!

As to Con it just seems to me that a Pally needs lots of Surges both for himself and others.
