Hybrid mixes?

Crap! I just read that Reaper's Touch is being NERFED. Those *&@#$(*. Now I cannot Charge w/ my d8+8dmg attack for an extra d8+d6 for charging!

While the requirements for it might change at some point (to only shadar-kai), that's hardly nerfing the feat. It still does just as much.

Now, given that the original article was not shadar-kai only, the compendium is not shadar-kai only, the character builder is not shadar-kai only and _only_ the dragon annual is... I don't see that I'd worry about.

The fact that the Compendium and Character Builder don't match the annual doesn't mean anything. The official release date for the Annual is the 15th of this month. I'd expect that the Character Builder and Compendium will be updated to match at the beginning of next month.

I whipped up a deva Avenger|Swordmage that, while stat-wise not entirely optimal seemed like he do a damn good job of soloing a big baddie: BBEG's penalized if he doesn't attack you, and if he does, you can teleport after him and attack AND you have powers to prevent other enemies from attacking you as well...

Given that my character is now completely ruined by not being allowed to have the feat, I'd say it has been nerfed. I'll continue using the feat, (hope the GM doesn't care & have to update DDI to house-rule it), right until a GM makes an issue over it. Then, if they *insist* that I cannot have it, just calmly leave the game, it's not worth rules-lawyering or getting angry over.

Of course, now this character cannot be used in any RPGA games, but that's not such a big deal I guess.

1) All RPGA characters of the appropriate can use reaper's touch. As I already said, the character builder and compendium both allow it, as does the original article.

2) If your character was ruined by the lack of a single feat that only affected a single at-will attack, then your character apparently did not have much substance. I rather imagine there was, in fact, more to the character than just a single trick. Yes, it sucks having to get Melee Training or something similar.

3) If you'd leave a gaming group over a DM enforcing the rules, that says a lot about either the gaming group, or yourself, or both. I'm shocked.

Anything can be made to work flavor-wise. The limiting factor there is player creativity, and that's no limit at all.

So mechanically, some obvious choices are:
- Barbarian/Sorcerer (Dragonborn)
- Fighter/Sorcerer (Dragonborn)
- Rogue/Sorcerer (Halfling)
- Ranger/Cleric (Elf)
- Warlock/Warlord (Tiefling)
- Warlord/Bard (Tiefling)
- Warlock/Bard (Tiefling)
- Cleric/Avenger
- Avenger/Invoker
- Wizard/Swordmage
- Wizard/Artificer
- Invoker/Artificer (Deva)

Cheers, -- N

I like deva for a lot of those latter ones (I think I just like deva - skinned different usually)... long tooth shifter for cleric avenger ought to be nice and wizard swordmage ought to be good for anything which swordmage is fun at..

Humans seem to really rock for hybrids all around though.

I have a lot of character concepts for whom reapers touch works nicely...
the power in my game world is called "Conjurers Blade" or "Summoned Rune Weapon".. objecting to having it restricted is not about needing melee training, it is about ones power being ones weapon and similar flavorish things I suspect.
