Racial Favored Weapons?

To start, I am new, but have been lurking for quite a while. This site has been a valuable source of ideas, information, and has helped me as I recently began DMing. That said, I am in a bind, and would like some help. This is based on core book information, so going to the homebrew section doesn't seem to be the right move. I am aware that for whatever reason threads can't be moved right now, so I am hoping my judgment was correct in posting this here.

Thing is, my players are very into flavor, and ask a lot of questions, leaving very little for granted. It's not enough to take a mission, they want to know the first and last name of their employer, they want to know the route the took to get there, they want to know if the buildings are brick or stone, yadda yadda.... I appreciate their enthusiasm, but it can be exhausting. Something they've asked a lot about is "What do so-and-so usually use?" By this I mean, what races and monsters usually are known to equip themselves with.

Now, I know some already. Dwarves of course use axes and hammers typically, Gnomes favor the warpick, Eladrin love longswords(and spears as well, going by their soldier feat), Eberron has the Talenta weapons for halflings and drow have their own "tribal" arms. Hobgoblins I'm told use flails and swords, and I recall orcs invented the Double Axe. Humans, obviously, use a variety of weapons.

Are there any I am leaving out? I think kobold and lizardfolk employ spears and javelins with frequency, but I am unsure. Usually, I'd just make this stuff up for my campaign, but I've been going "core" with these things, just because I am getting the hang of DMing with what comes out of the books themselves before I take to making things up for myself. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

You've hit all the major ones (with the already mentioned tratnyr/dragonborn connection).

Oh, Goliaths love two-handed weapons (based on the Goliath Greatweapon Proficiency).

Not that these aren't obvious, but just because they haven't been mentioned, elves like bows, and Githzerai like heavy blades.

My break down, just from flavor:

Humans actually favor pole arms, mostly halberds and pikes for their generic guards
Elves favor bows, using short swords or other lightblades for melee
Dwarfs like hammers and axes and shields
Halflings favor slings and daggers
Tieflings prefer light blades with blades that resemble flames
Eladrin like their longswords
Dragon born use weapons that look as if they are made from bone, most often heavy blades.
Deva's don't prefer one weapon type, they're too solitary to support that sort of culture
Gnomes in fourth edition have less reason to like picks, I see them appearing unarmed, but having hidden blades.
Shifters are very much in the spear camp
Golliaths like two handed weapons, mostly hammers for they're mountainly-ness
orc like axes, their warriors will always try to obtain one. high crit weapons of any sort follow in this hierarchy
Goblins like spears and cross bows are prized if they can get one,
kobolds spears and javelins or slings,
lizardfolk spears and blow guns.
Ogres like big old clubs, more advanced ones use morning-stars
Drow like hand crossbows and long swords/rapiers
minotaurs probably like blunt weapons, so hammers and maces

thats all at the moment

Actually, apparently MP2 gives Gnomes a feat similar to DWT with Dwarves, except it gets them picks and hammers, +2 to damage rolls. Of course, being small creatures, this has somewhat limited applications by comparison, but it's a start to get them out of their pigeon hole.

Thanks for all of the help, guys. My "Big Bad Guy" in my campaign is a Tiefling who usurped his cousin for control of their noble family, so I needed to know weapons that'd make sense of him and his many bodyguards. I think if light blades are the ticket with Tieflings, a short sword with some nasty ongoing damage would suffice. Toss in some fire spells to get the easier hits, and my players ought to have a blast.

IIRC, there was a dragon magazine article with polearm focused warlod powers that seemed to suggest the were of tiefling orgin. They do seem to be the kind of people who would want all the bad stuff happening as far away from them as possible, thus polearm.

Hmm, could work. Heh, maybe tie Alchemist Fire bottles to the tips of their halberds or the like, so that they burst on the execution of the blow. I bet my players would love that, especially since they got some lucky rolls, and things haven't been as challenging as they'd like. Are there any rules for this sort of thing that you guys are aware of? I could always just make them flaming weapons, but then the players would be tempted to loot the corpses, and they have enough swag at the moment.
