Anecdotal unscientific Poll for everyone to debate over, and tell me I put the wrong options up.

So has the "Premium" store thing been working on you?

Do you find yourself shopping at a FLGS now more often then you used to because you just can't wait to get the product in your grubby little gamer hands? :)

It kind of has for me. I'm a very impulsive "I WANT IT!" type of guy, so if I can get it a week or two earlier then if I waited to save money, I'll probably go out and pay more at the FLGS. (At least for the stuff I'm excited about.)

(I know I'll be at my FLGS picking up the Essentials stuff.)

I'm in South East London. Central London only has an UFLGS (Orc's Nest - well named), and Leisure Games and Eclectic Games are both an hour and a half or so away. My main gaming store is therefore Amazon.

I love supporting my FLGS.

UNFORTUNATELY...

My local (1-hour-away) FLGS, which is a premium store, doesn't bother to order 4e stuff unless someone specifically orders it. So I can't look at stuff early, in fact I can't even look at it at all without ordering it...

Unless I go to the Barnes & Noble about six blocks from dude's store, where they get some 4e stuff. And it's not early. And at that point, I buy it there, rather than going back to dude and ordering it and waiting and driving another hour to go pick it up.

It's very frustrating, to be honest; I've just about decided to switch to ordering from Amazon, saving myself an hour's drive each way and some money in exchange for paying for shipping... and not supporting my FLGS.

Bah.

Strange that they would allow a store that doesn't stock current materials to be a premium store. Do they run D&D Encounters?

I waited a whole year for Starcraft II, and then when it finally came out it still took a me a week to work up the energy to go to the store and pick it up. If I can wait a week on that, I can wait a week on anything. Even more so if there is $$ involved.

I'm strange I think.

I can force myself to wait for anything, and to not spend money if I don't have it, or something...

But once I decide "This money is being used to by x-product..." There's almost no way I'm not going out to buy it if it's available locally.

I guess it's the idea of handing over my cash and then having to wait. No way I gave you the money now you give me the thing. NOW! :-D

I'm still waiting for SC2. My gaming pc is broken, and I haven't got round to fixing it yet :p
