Adventure: Into the Wild

GM: Good catch. New location on map. Like Renquist and Nementah, he is now on the surface of water and not yet drowning.

EDIT: Forgot to account for Dante's turn on the modified Map...

Max steps aside formt the acid like ink and barks out commands. Hit it Haruka! While covered the ink the angry hexblade unleashes a bolt of force that causes the mighty kraken to groan in pain. Max, so pleased with Haruka's performance encourages her to do it again. This time However the bolt goes wide.

[sblock=ooc] Mal, thanks for fixing my turn. [/sblock]

[sblock=question] If a charge initiates outside of reach, does it still trigger an OA when you get within reach? [/sblock]

Pulled from the boat, Renquist makes one last attack at the tentacle, severing it cleanly. The death of the tentacle embodies Lauto's will, and Dante finds himself blessed by Lauto.

[sblock=actions] Standard: Ardent strike versus Tentacle [E5?] (whichever one is holding Renquist): 1d20+11, 1d8+5 → ([20, 11], [3, 5]) Roll Lookup . Free of grab.
Free: In Death, Life: Renquist spends a healing surge and an ally within close burst three gains HP as if they spent the surge. (Dante seems to make the most sense because of lowest number of healing surges, yes?)
Move: Swim to edge of boat E5, athletics check to climb up: 1d20-1 → [16,-1] = (15) Roll Lookup .
(Not sure if I killed E5 or G5, so adjust move as appropriate.)

Primera lashes out at the beast, but misses, he mistress being in trouble on the other side of the ship. She races across the board to help, but stops as Nementah slips out of the strangling coils. Under Nementah's command, Primera offers healing to her companions.

Rocco trashes around in the grip of the beast and after some wriggling manages to slip out of the coils of the beast, coming closer to the ship and daring the kraken to try the attack again.

[sblock=Actions]
Move: Athletics to end the grab (1d20+10=25) - hm, miss by one? I'll go with an attack as if I can attack the beast (because of being held) if that is not true, I'll revise the turn. Does floating shield adds 1 to escaping the grab in the water :p
Standard->Move: Athletics to escape the grab #2 (1d20+10=26) shift to H0

Minor: Second Wind for 14hp, +2 all defenses

OOC: dimdale, your turn doesn't quite work. First, Commander's Strike has a range of melee, and the target it your enemy, not your ally. So you need the kraken to be in your melee reach to use the power. Second, there is no such thing as a "basic melee ranged attack". Basic attacks are either melee or ranged. Commander's Strike grants melee attacks only.

However, Haruka is still adjacent to the kraken until I start my turn. So if you move up next to the kraken (and probably draw an OA in doing so) you could use Commander's Strike to give Haruka attacks. Remember that the kraken's OA grabs you though, so getting to him isn't a sure thing.

FourMonos, if you charge the kraken from, say, five squares away, you will still suffer an OA the first time you leave a threatened square, even though the charge originated out of his reach.

Hmm, don't we also get a save before being thrown overboard?

So, if I follow the works, Rocco is in the same square, but no longer 1 square down. If I free myself, I can shift adjacent and hit the beast, right? I'll write the description once I know which action is correct...

GM: While grabbed, the Kraken can pull you overboard.

You are not in the same square as in the original map either. You are now one closer than in the previous map. Yes, if you suceed an escape check, you will shift adjacent to the Kraken. Water is not technically difficult terrain (even though you frequently move at half speed but that's because most creature lack a swimming speed, not because it's DT) so shift works normally.

Those who escape a grab but are surrounded by DT however can't shift.

And THB is correct about dimsdale turn.

Commander's strike doesn't grant ranged basic attack (Brash Assault does, however).

ooc: Thanks for clearing that up for me THB. I'd like to redo my turn if it is alright with Mal. Max is a freaken bravura warlord for pete's sake. He wouldn't sit back. What the hell was I thinking!

Max, fuming with Rage as the ink blast slowly eats through his exposed skin, screams a battle cry and lauches a bold attack. Dodging the Kraken's tentacles, the warlord gets into position. Hit it Haruka! The hexblade responds by unleashing a brutal attack which makes the Kraken roar in discomfort. Inspired by Haruka's attack, the warlord unleashes one of his own by thrusting his sword into the spongy flesh of the giant beast. The sword slices through a chuck of flesh and gives Haruka another opening for an attack. The hexblade takes advantage with powerful blow to the beast.

Ashir continues to unleash hordes of flaming sprites armed with tiny red-hot tridents that assault the Kraken. The lingering flames from their phantom weapons continue to assault the primitive cephalopod's mind.

[sblock=ooc]
Minor:
Move:
Standard: Winged Horde centered on D0 - vs will (kraken, lesser); fire (1d20+12=25, 1d20+12=31, 1d6+8=10) both hits. Kraken for 10 + target cannot take opportunity actions until the end of your next turn. Meaning no grabs :)

*Planned Immediate Interrupts:

1) If Ashir is hit on his AC/Ref of 4 or less, use Shield to negate the hit.

2) If Ashir is attacked by melee attack from tentacle (and it's higher than AC 27), use interrupt to switch target to construct (AC 25).
