Elurin slows down and leans on his staff to get at head height with the kobolds "We will not take your radishes, but they do look delicious! We are looking for bandits like the ones you say killed your, ah, village. We are also looking for an old stone temple. I am Elurin, Master of the Woods, so I can take any form I want."

"You...don't want to take our radishes...ok. Hmmmm.... you looking for bandits, you say. We may have tricked about bandits killing our village....not even sure what a bandit is. We saw more tall-ones like you far that way (pointing south). Maybe they are what you're looking for. I can't think of any temple or stone things around here. " the leader says.

The one chewing on the radish speaks (bits of the vegetable flying from its mouth) "Melnyk, shouldn't we see if they help us?" to which the other kobold hisses and the smaller one quiets down.

Up to this point, Ezmerelda had had just about enough of the kobolds. But now she was curious. What would vegetarian kobolds want help with? And even more interesting...what would they offer in payment?

"We've been known to help folks now and then," she says with a grin. "What do you need help with? And...just how much are you willing to pay?"

"Yes, Melnyk, just what sort of help do you require? And what more is in it for us," says Faustus, favoring the scaly little boogers with a very toothy grin.

Mari finds her curiosity piqued and listens attentively.

The druid stifles the urge to pat Melnyk on the head and, charismatically, leans forward to listen.

With a sour look to his ally, Melnyk speaks. "Ok, so our tribe is arounds here, far that way (south again), in a big hole in the ground, but things are no good right now. Old Sharptooth was stolen! Those damn mites took him, we know it. Without, Tartuk tells us great evil will happen and strong humans will come and kill us and take all our stuff. Uh-oh wait, that's not you is it? Well, we're still alive so that's good start. Why don't you come find us when you're done with your old stone place and we can have Tartuk speak more about it" Melnyk suggests.

If you show him the roughed out map, he points to a spot next to a winding river, the Shrike River where his tribe is located.

Motioning Mari a short distance away from the others to get out of earshot of the kobold, Faustus asks, "But aren't we going to have to kill Melnyk and his whole tribe, too? I have difficulty imagining any creatures who are better described as an infestation that kobolds."

Just an FYI, Mowgli will be needing to drop out of the game here as he's got RL business going on. I wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are here. We seem to have hit a wall the last while in the adventure and this might be a good time to talk about options going forward. We can continue with just 4, which would be 1 of each role. We could grab another PC to bump up to the expected party size of 5. Or we could call it a day here. If everyone's too busy for this game (and it's in an out of the way forum for Leif, Scotley and Shayuri) I'd rather put Old Yeller down.
