D&D 5E how many 5e supporters are upset about the possible $50 price tag

How did the price of $50 effect you?

Well, technically, I had to use "I was unsure" (#2) when I *am* still unsure. But, nothing to do with the price.
So the one that said "was unsure and price didn't effect me" is perfect

So the list of people who say they were going to buy but now have doubt because of the price include, in my opinion, a lot of people who made it clear they were unsure about the game before the price issue existed. I think all of Ashkelon, Dausuul, ForeverSlayer, GMforPowergamers, Jester Canuck, and mhensley had all expressed, to one degree or another, doubt and a level of unsureness before the price issue existed.

Am I wrong? Were all you guys really "totally on board" with buying 5e sight unseen before this price issue came about?

I have been very gun hoe and run multi playtests the only negatives I felt was with the removals of damage on a miss for fighters and now this

That is why I started this thread becuse I'm sick of being told "you just hate X"

I wanted to buy and my Tuesday night game was sold... At 30-40 per book but not at 50

you can't possible mean that.

I get that $50 isn't the break point for everyone, but you have to have a break point.

Would you buy it for $100?
Would you buy it for $450?
would you buy it for $1,000?

If the answer to all of those is yes, I have one last question, will you adopt me?

I responded to the question looking through the lens of "reality".

The Player's Handbook is not going to cost $1,000. It's not going to cost $400. It's not going to even cost $100. And it's that kind of hyperbole that makes arguments here devolve into ridiculousness. It's never about two moderate points leaning one way or another (and two people trying to illustrate why their leaning is probably better for the game)... but rather someone always throws out the most absurd stupidity as a way of trying to illustrate their side. "Well, if you allow X... then Y!!!!!! happens!"

No. No it doesn't. And by offering up that hyperbolic rhetoric that has no basis in any conceivable reality... your argument becomes so easy to ignore (thereby rendering your original opinion useless.)

So yes... regardless of what the PHB will cost in any sort of real fashion... whether that be $30, $40, $50, $60 dollars... I will be buying the book regardless.

I'm upset because I do not put $50 down for games...

And I won't pay $60K for a car. But sure as heck there are cars that cost as much for sale. Am I upset by that? I should be upset by the mere existence of things at price points that I myself would not pay?

I find it crazy that people aren't more upset about it...

You find it crazy that people aren't more upset about a price that was in no way confirmed by the publisher, on a listing that was retracted from public view? Let's get upset... over highly questionable data and rumors! Yeah, that's constructive!

(Yes, I know this is the internet, but that's not an excuse any more.)

You know what makes them all seperate from D&D thiugh... 1 book buy in instead of 3

Eh. I'm reading through the new Shadowrun rules now, looking to see if I want to use them. And, like pretty much every SR edition before it, it rather begs for supplements.

Nope. That might be part of the bias. I *am* still unsure (no *was* about it) but the poll makes it seem like I'm on board with buying and I still am not, as outlined in one of my previous posts.

The price will be low on the list of things that will stop a purchase in this case. I plan on waiting for reviews from the early adopters. If it seems like a solid product then will probably check it out and the price tag won't be a huge factor. If it turns out to be riddled with errata and in need of a major overhaul with months of release then I won't buy it at any price.

I'm interested, but $50 is a lot to shell out. It's the same reason I haven't picked up the new version of Shadowrun. Looks great, but I can't justify dropping $60 on a game that I might get to play if I find the right group. Too rich for my blood.

In reality I never expected a price tag over $40... You said any not me your limit is 60 mine is 40 washy is that a big deal?

If you really wanted a new car and followed it for 2 years expecting it be a 30,000-40,000 car would you say nothing when it was leaked it was ou. Of your budget at 50,000

I run shadow run 3e and 4e no supplements

No, it's not a big deal, because I don't care in the slightest how much you will or won't pay for it. You can do whatever you want. I was just suggesting that when you question me on whether I am being honest about being willing to pay $50... asking if I'd also pay $1000 is kind of ridiculous.

Is there any good reason why they should sell it for $40?

Profit margins being what they are in retail sales, you have to sell a heck of a lot more $40 books than you do $50 books.
