Wireth was slow and grumpy in the morning. An extra night surrounded by humans and away from the wilderness apparently did little for him. He was eager, then, as the group prepared to depart.

"Here's hoping," he said of the warden. It's a swampy slog to have to go through twice only to find he's still out and about. But at least this time the sheriff probably won't discourage us, given our numbers."

Suldrel's frown deepens. "So you went into the swamp without us," he says flatly. "Not a wise decision. The goblins must have scouts of their own. Increased activity, especially by strangers, could alert them that something is up."

"Eh. They just went to the sheriff's house and came back," Sachiko says, patting Suldrel on the arm. "Goblins wouldn't be hanging around there. The only harm done was that they missed me epically beating you up, and then they missed my award-winning stew!"

She wagged a finger at the wayward party members.

"Alright, lets head out!"

"'Warden's house', Sachi," off-handedly corrected Fastus with now ingrained reflexes. She probably just got the names wrong too, instead of thinking they went to Sheriff Hemlock's house here in town or something...

He was a bit distracted right now though: With some of the others starting to leave on one side, Fastus breathed in and then, on impulse, tramped partway up the steps of the Rusty Dragon.

"Uh..." He looked up into Ameiko's eyes, into those bottomless pools of night -- so ALIVE for all that black, and framed by her stunning white locks on both sides... He reached out and picked up one of her hands, the warm contact firming up his resolve somehow.

"I will slay the dragons for you, milady," he said in what he burningly hoped was a firm voice (Was 'dashing' too much to hope for?)!

And then he leaned down and kissed it.

Right out of one of Ameiko's own adventurous stories! (Except he'd missed the back of her hand and tickled the top of her fingers with his lips instead, but never mind THAT right now!)

OOC: EDIT= Hm, thought: can this scene be considered a 'gift' from Fastus to Ameiko? Something like: "Making her LIVE an adventurous story"? If so, here is the associated Diplomacy roll: 1d20+6=19. If not, well a guy will try, right? :D

And then Sachiko spoiled the moment by bursting into laughter and saying, "Sure, if by dragons you mean goblins!"

She sauntered over and slapped Fastus on the back. "Besides, you're doing it wrong. Here, watch."

Sachiko took Ameiko's other hand and made big puppy dog eyes at her.

"My lady," she said, dropping her voice an octave and filling it with melodramatic seriousness, "I swear by my honor, and my life, I will swing by the market on the way back and pick up your order of firewood. By my troth, ye shall not go cold this winter's frosty morn or I myself will leap onto the fire so you may warm yourself on my blazing passion."

She started planting smooch after smooch on the back of the hand, until Ameiko yanked it back away from her, whereupon she started giggling at her own naughtiness to the point she couldn't quite go on with the joke.

Jariah looked back at Suldrel with an expression of disappointment and said, “So you say.” She shook her head and turned away to continue walking on.

Jakira stood in front of Suldrel and snarled, “Ya can take yarrr stupid attitude an’ shove it up yarrr ass. Juss who tha fu-” He was cut off by a mental command that caused him to cease talking. He turned away in a huff and trotted after his mistress.

Jariah spoke kindly to her eidolon, “Do not worry about it. It is not important. His insults were spoken out of ignorance.”

Meanwhile Fastus blinked at Sachiko, nonplused, both shoulders suddenly feeling heavier than they should right now (he'd let go of Ameiko's hand as soon as she approached).

"Now why'd you have to go and do something like that, Sachi?" He looked sad there on the porch, and a bit lost maybe.

And it had been going SO well before that too!

Elsbeth

Elsbeth felt a strange sensation as she watched Fastus fawn all over Ameiko. He was acting like he was in love with her hero. Why was he acting like that? More importantly, why did it bother her?

Then Sachiko went over and acted foolishly offering to bring firewood or else offer herself to be burned for warmth. It was very strange. She had still not become accustomed to Sachiko's sense of humor.

"Er, shouldn't we be going? We don't want to waste any daylight." she suggested.

"Because you need the practice," Sachiko chides Fastus. "I just saved you. But Elsbeth is right!"

She gives Ameiko a jaunty salute, and a bow, and darts a few yards ahead before pausing and looking back, like a puppy eager to be walked.

"We RIDE!"

Suldrel hoists his spear, a substantial length, and falls in besides Sachiko, whispering a small joke, "I don't see any horses, and I am done carrying you." Funny to him at least for the irony.
