D&D 5E Starter Set Character Sheet Revealed!

Did I miss something? I thought the battle master was the subclass with the dice and the maneuvers. I don't recall any healing abilities.

The warlord appears to be embedded in the battle master. I have vague memories of statements hinting at some form of healing, but will have to go Twitter-mining to find them.

does not , in my mind mean.

D&D 5th Edition Starter set Premade Character Sheet Revealed!

yes, there is a HUGE difference.

Does the damage increase somehow? Because all I see is that he gets a second attack at level 5, but until then his damage per round stays exactly the same while the HP's increase dramatically...

Besides of that, I really like the Noble Background Aspect and the sheet itself, but the Fighter Class (at least this sub-class) seems extremely boring.

That would be great if they provided a blank character sheet like this one. It looks less busy than 3e or 4e sheets. A lot less busy and better imho.

New things I got from looking at this sheet:

1. Either humans don't get a bonus language, or backgrounds no longer provide a combination of 3 tools/languages, since he only has 3 languages and one (non-class) tool.
2. Second wind heals per short rest. This seems pretty extreme and strongly favors certain playstyles over others. Basically, until you get to high levels, fighters don't need any outside assistance (or much time) to heal them. They can just sit around for a few hours using second wind every hour.
3. Action Surge refreshes on a short rest now.
4. It takes quite a while to get that proficiency bonus bumped up to +3.

Other than the specific description of Position of Privilege, there appears to be nothing else rules wise here that we haven't already been told.

I'm really thrown by #2 though.

Strength gets 2 points for an additional 1 to the modifier, so damage goes up by 1.

At 2nd level he gets Action Surge which grants him an extra action a couple of combats a day.
At 3rd level he gets improved critical which doubles his chances of a critical hit.
At 4th level he gets +2 strength, which is +1 to hit and +1 to damage.

So he gets incremental increases in damage output at each level.

Thaumaturge.

I would have preferred #2 stay at gaining temp hit points, but I cannot think of any DMs allowing multiple short rests in a row. Aside from that #2 and #3 refreshed on a rest as of the last playtest.

Simple, clean, even elegant, but also a bit boring. I like it, but hope for a bit more pizazz in Basic; I'm guessing the blank sheet will be a bit more expansive. That said, it is simple enough that there will be tons of homebrew versions out there. I'm guessing some have already started.

I also admit to liking the old approach of stats on the front, character notes and equipment on the back.
