Shouldn't a potion of healing taste like chicken soup?

When I was really young (11-12) I'd always imagined it tasted like peppermint and was blue. I'm almost 100% certain I stole that either from an article from Dragon or some sort of fiction.

Here are some quick observations about this excerpt;

+1 Armor/Weapon: I am fine with those, and the numerical advantage even small is significant within Bounded Accuracy.

Boots of Striding & Springing: I think they're cool. The enhanced jumping means you can long jump a number of feet equal to STR x3 and high jump a number of feet isual to 3x (3+ STR mod) with them. Because it doesn't say you can move beyond your speed, you will still be limited by it though because jumping says you must ''simply deduct the distance of each part of your move from your speed until your speed is used up or until you are done moving.'' (How To Play pg. 09)

Gaunthlets of Ogre Power: I like them as is, when you wear them, it makes you as strong as an ogre. I also assume raising your unaltered STR has no effect while wearring these. It was like that in AD&D and i never played with people who organized their ability scores in prevision to one day obtain such item. I think in such case the problem is not the item's power but the player's behavior. (metagaming character creation).

Potion of Flying: Good enought, but i think it doesn't make sense to fall a minute after it wears off and think that you should fall immediatly instead.

I like it as written. The effect is actually wearing off instead of just ending abruptly. Sort of like an airplane doesn't just drop out of the sky if the engines quit, they can glide in a bit.

I'm glad they clearly mention the magic armour never deteriorating and magically resizing. It seems like, when you keep that in mind, magic armour would be amazing asset to an adventurer, even at +1, because it wouldn't need maintenance, which would otherwise be a huge chore. They don't note whether it needs repairs after damage (dents, penetrations, etc.), but I suppose it naturally extends that it "heals" from damage.

I'm sad that the descriptions of the items are a little colour-less, though. I know they've got limited space and the DM will customize items, and so on, but, not even suggestions as to what they might look like? Maybe that's covered elsewhere. I suppose space is very much at premium here.

Jones Soda had a limited run of D&D Sodas. "Potion of Healing" was Diet (splenda) Black Cherry. For my group it has stuck.

A Plane glide because it has wings, which a PC doesn't have. Something flying (or actually just aloft) when the flying wears off should fall, either directly vertically. There is no momentum of movement in D&D, between turns you don't retain any movement....

I understand the ''grace period'' and my gripe is not so much about the effect but when it takes place. That ''grace period"" should be within the potions effect, not after it wears off. To be clear, when the potion's efect wears off, you are under no magic effect anymore....hence the illogicalness...

I've skipped most of the later playtesting so pardon me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, but these items seem inherently wrong to me.

After playing 4E for so long, looking at these (well, except for the first two), and thought, these are so powerful!

Of course, after thinking a bit more, I see that as a good thing.
