Sailors on the Starless Sea

Siva and Narančasta

Siva sits back on her heels, somewhat taken aback by the turn of events.

"Fine. I'll do it the old fashioned way," she says eventually, a trace of irritation in her voice.

"You know, so we can get on fighting various un-natural horrors and beastly aberrations and so forth," she mutters under her breath as she finds some cloth and binds Homer's hand.

Narančasta, meanwhile, using the tip of his spear, carefully investigates the contents of the chest.

OOC: Sorry, meant to put the question about Borok in the OOC thread. Narančasta level up in RG thread BTW.

Kurl Sparkhaven offers to lay hands on Homer next, though he gives a hideous grin while making the attempt. "I really doubt this will work, seeing as you and I do not see eye to eye, but nothing ventured nothing gained." He touches his torc and begins speaking in low tones.

OOC: Kurl is chaotic to Homer's lawful.

[sblock=ooc]you just want his hands to shrivel, don't you![/sblock]

When Kurl takes Homer's bloody and bandaged hand in his own hand and touches the silver torc he feels a bolstering of his newly found power. Unfortunately Kurl is not quite experienced enough or maybe the Croaking God doesn't care to see Homer healed as Kurl's power flows away without healing the damage to Homer's hand.

The secret compartment of the chest is stuffed with silk. Narančasta prises the silk out of the compartment and it unfolds casting two silver rings set with emeralds onto the floor. The rolled silk is a tabard stitched with the sigil of Chaos. Also rolled within the tabard is a steel vial; liquid sloshes within.

Narančasta eyes the tabard with distaste. For the moment he is not sure what to do with it, burn it or take it as a trophy. Putting that decision aside he takes up the two silver rings and the steel flask and hands them to Siva.

"Any thoughts on these? There is something in the vial."

Narančasta is aware that overnight they have all changed somehow, that they are more than they were when the left the village. Siva and Kurl have obviously made a spiritual connection of one description of another. Narančasta has a farily good idea who Siva has sworn service to, he is not sure he wishes to know exactly which one in Kurl's case. As for the others, a number of them have been babbling on like the Evokers, Astrologers, Mages Sages Wiznerds and Warlocks Narančasta remembers as a boy at court. The others have also seemed to find some form of inner strength as well. For the first time since arriving, Narančasta dares to believe that some of them may make it out alive.

[sblock=OOC]No idea what the rules are for identifying potions and magic items. Such it and see?[/sblock]

Cursory examination of the steel vial and its contents reveal that the liquid is oily and bears a heavy, rich floral scent that evokes tropical gardens. The liquid is too thick to be perfume...

[sblock=OOC]Use of the cleric or wizard spell detect magic can, with a high enough roll, identify magical qualities of objects.

Any character (roll d10), particularly one with a plant-based occupation (roll d20) can make a skill check to identify the liquid.

[sblock=Oil, DC 5]The vial contains two doses of black lotus oil. Drinking the oil increases the durability of a person but after an hour causes painful cramps. [sblock=Mechanics]+1d10 hp for 1 hour. Hp fade after that hour and character must make a DC 20 Fort check or take 1d4 hp of damage.[/sblock][/sblock][/sblock]

Siva takes the items and looks them over. "The rings are nice. Emeralds are not my favourite stone. But they are still pretty ... "

Siva notices the frown on Narančasta face.

"Oh, you mean are they magical or whatever?" Siva shrugs. "Ildavir's temples are mighty caves in the wilderness, her cathedrals mountain ranges that touch the sky and her holy places anywhere that makes you want to just stop and take a moment to enjoy; a sunny corner of a garden, a sparkling mountain stream, a might desert. She's not into stained glass windows and magical nick-knacks so much.

"Maybe one of the others might know."

Siva does however, open the vial and give it a cautious sniff before rubbing a little of the oil inside on her fingers.

[sblock=OOC]Not sure if Siva's background counts as plant based, so [roll0][/sblock]

Edit: "No. No idea. It smells nice however."
