"Aw, I just cleaned my sword too," Sachiko complains, but she amiably stabs its lack-of-a-face again anyway, then nods. "Don't think it's coming back."

She wipes her sword off again, then ventures deeper into the little cottage.

"Warden?" she calls, no doubt she's already forgotten the halfling's name. "Are you alive? Did this thing kill you? Have you returned as a bloodthirsty spirit of vengeance?"

"Make sure that this is dead, Sachiko," he says to his sister. "Just stab it a couple more times or something."

"Let's keep the tongue," proposed Fastus from outside, and with entirely too much enthusiasm for one who just almost-died.

[sblock=OOC]I imagine the wounds probably don't just *disapear*, but that people just feel better/more optimistic when he's around (morale HP healing)? Or it turns out their wounds weren't as bad as they first thought after all -- sometimes in direct contradiction to previously observed facts? (A bit like the "cosmetic" wounding we see heroes suffer in most action movies. :))[/sblock]

Elsbeth

Elsbeth woke up to find Fastus above her. It took her a moment to realize she was lying on the ground.

"The Warden! He's an imposter!" she warned.

Seeing the look on Fastus's face made her realize her warning was too late.

"Is...is everyone okay?" she asked softly.

Sachiko turns around and peers up the staircase.

"Is that you, warden? We didn't kill you! It was that weird no-face monster! Which is now dead because of us. So...you have your vengeance!"

"Is...is everyone okay?" she asked softly.
"Yeah, pretty much." He smiled back at her, wide and truly relieved: "It took me down too, you know. AND the big orc... But somebody killed it dead just after that - probably Suldrel, right? - and Sachi got some licks in before that too, so we did GOOD... How ya feeling? Feel like getting up?" and he offered his hand to get her back up and go rejoin the others... Although he couldn't help teasing her on the way: "You're a real bleeder, you know? All this from THAT little gash?"

Clearly he figured that HE, in comparison, bled like a REAL man...

Sachiko turns around and peers up the staircase.

"Is that you, warden? We didn't kill you! It was that weird no-face monster! Which is now dead because of us. So...you have your vengeance!"
Fastus and Elsbeth re-entered about then, although it took the former a second or two to understand what Sachiko was doing exactly...

"I think maybe IT tied the warden upstairs, Sachi," he patiently explained. So it probably WASN'T ghosts from beyond... right?

His expression changed: Meaning they had some action upstairs. Meaning.... "Race you!" Fastus announced without warning, already bounding up towards the second story, stairs creaking under him.

Jariah Taliaferro, Human Female

Jakira looked puzzled at the creature, but the explanation from Sachiko and the voice from upstairs made it celar even to his dull mind. A few mental confirmations from his mistress satisfied him as well now that she was no longer busy saving Fastus.

At the suggestion of keeping the creature’s tongue, the feline eidolon was curious. “The tongue? Oh, it is gud to eat, eh.” He used his claws to carefully slash and separate the extraordinary appendage from the creature.

Jariah had turned around where she stood at the doorway to watch Fastus as he rushed to help Elsbeth and noticed the healing touch. With the other woman regaining consciousness and her wound appearing to be gone, Jariah turned back to see Suldrel helping Wireth. The half-orc was still unconscious and she suggested, “Mayhap Fastus can help him too. Otherwise he should have a healing potion on his person somewhere.”

She glanced upwards at the ceiling with a voice answering Sachiko’s call for the real warden. She whispered, “Good thinking, Sachiko. Let’s go find him.”

When Fastus tried to make a game of running up the stairs she stood in his way and gestured towards, Wireth. She said flatly, “What about him, mister let’s race? Or is he not special enough for your attention?”

Jariah started exploring the dwelling by heading up the stairs nearby and called out, “Walthus Proudstump? Is it really you? We have dispatched the imposter, you can come out now. We are from Sandpoint.”

She looked around for the missing halfling and his snakes on the second floor.

Jakira asked what was most important to him, “Does he still want the mice?”

When Fastus tried to make a game of running up the stairs she stood in his way and gestured towards, Wireth.

Fastus just dodged past her though, not really listening to her words: which didn't make much sense to him anyways, right?

OOC: Please roll ini if you really want to stop him. :) Otherwise he's already gone ahead.

EDIT = And beat an 1d20+6=11. Really not feeling the Invisible Castle love, am I. :)

At the word 'race,' Sachiko dropped all pretense of concern at the revenant status of Proudfoot, and streaked after Fastus. She dodged around Jariah and as she rapidly gained ground on the mobility-impaired blacksmith, she tried to psych him out by saying, "Hey, I think Wireth needs your magic fingers!" then immediately tried to leap past him from behind to take the lead!

[roll0] Acrobatics to get past Jariah.

Annnnd

[roll1] Acrobatics to get past Fastus!

Not that we probably need to roll for a purely RP thing, but perhaps the result will help guide responses. :)
