D&D 5E Confirmed and foreseen subclasses?

It looks to me like the choice of patron is the big subclass division for warlocks, and the choice of blade, book, and chain is closer to a fighter's choice of fighting style.

Yes, the warlock should more properly list 'Patrons - Archfey, Fiend, Great Old One'.

While the terms 'chainlock', 'tomelock', & um... ('swordlock'? 'weaplock'? whatever we use for the weapon one)... may better describe the more visible presentation of the character, the greater influence on the progression of the class (according to 'that document', at least) will be the Patron.

I'd say the Metasubclasses are Way of the 4 elements, Hunter Rangers, Totem Barbrians, Battlemaster, Druid Circle of theLand, and maybe a Warlock of the Tome (not really the subclass part, but almoat one with the right invocation).

Semimetasubclasses I'd say are Beast Master Ranger, Dragon Sorceror, Eldrich Knight.

Indeed. I guess the thread doesn't matter anymore...

Well, we can pivot this thread into speculating on future subclasses, because it's pretty clear this will be where 5e will be expanding. My understanding is that there are a few from the Alpha that were cut.

For example, one only has to look at Pathfinder and 4e to see many new Sorcerous Origins. Celestial, Fiendish, Storm and Cosmic bloodlines, to name a few.

While I expect the Psion to be its own class in 5e, once Psionics hits, I think we'll see the Psychic Warrior and the Lurk (Psychic Rogue) become subclasses of the Fighter and Rogue. A "Way of the Enlightened Mind" for a more Psionic Monk, and I actually think the Soulknife might become a feat, or another Monk subclass.

Im curious if the Arcane Archer is suppose to be just an Eldritch Knight who focuses on Bows, or if its something completely unique to it.

Nope. The subclass list from the February leaked Alpha is identical to the final subclass list. None added, none removed.

Also, so far there's been nearly no difference between the Alpha and the final previews. So far I've noticed all the changes we've seen so far are:
-Bard gets 2 more known spells and doesn't get a cantrip at level 16. Also, the final version doesn't mention Font of Inspiration going up at level 10 and 15.
-Sorcerer doesn't get a cantrip at level 16
-Cleric's Destroy Undead feature is slightly behind(starting at 1/2 instead of 1) and they don't get a cantrip at level 16
-Wizard doesn't get a cantrip at level 16
-Scribe Scroll is no longer a feat
-Martial Adept feat added
-Healing spells are all halved in effectiveness and add your stat mod
-Swift spells are gone, replaced with Bonus Action spells(which do the exact same thing)
-A couple of minor renaming of abilities without changing their effect

Otherwise every preview has shown that the leaked Alpha is 100% accurate
