Star Wars Saga/D&D 5th Hybrid [OOC/Rolls]

I think the issue is that we don't have saves in this game. I'm not really sure how the "chopped up by the droid assembly conveyor belt" would work. I think the chopper makes an attack roll against the target's Reflex Save? I think that's part of the Saga/4E rule sets, but not sure.

Alternately, we could change it from disadvantage on STR/DEX saves to STR/DEX Ability Checks, which might cover the same territory...

It goes back to Saga I think, because Saga was the improvement on 'D20 Star Wars', both of which were heavily 3rd ed/3.5 ed.

Hmm. The idea that a hazard makes an attack roll is not at all a crazy idea. The concept has been used in all editions at some point with traps etc. Is there a simple way of working out the bonus said trap or hazard gets? A difficulty rating system, which increases a hazards 'to hit' based on its difficulty? There may be something on this in 5e DM guide for making traps, which make attack rolls...

Applying disadvantage to str and dex ability checks is interesting too. This will still have a negative impact on avoidance of obstacles and jumping from point to point, but also would effect opposed grapple and trip rolls, which is kind of cool.

Oh, separate matter. Greenkarl, in the original rogues gallery, i think you had Captain Kaldo. I was just wondering what he looked like or if you had a picture? I was also wondering about the Survey rep Zabrak Kooth Odok. Did you picture him as having any face tattoos or specific horns or cream skin colour?

I did think I even posted up Kaldo as he was never going to be a super recurring character, nor did I post up the two other Survey reps but I can at least post pictures of them.

Finally, minor detail, but i looked up the morning song, because i was curious about it 'lore'-wise. In looking myself mind you, I was surprised to find it difficult to bring up any old republic light freighter. The best i found was a 'Lethisk Class light freighter', but it requires a crew of 3. Though the remaining slots could be filled with ai or droids as Kaldo likes his ship as it requires only himself. I'm just re-reading through campaign info for fun and just was curious about those things....

There are VERY few Old Republic ships of any kind that don't come from the various video games or the online game. That is where I got the picture for the Outlaw Gambit. For the Morning I did post a link in the first post of the IC that is what a GhtrocClass 580. They were not really old-republic specific so its not strictly historically accurate :) hehe

As for other notes above... hmmm. For For Traps (like the chooper droids) I am of two minds... either they would be an attack roll against a defense or an Ability check vs. a DC. For many of these types of environmental hazards I think it was almost always an attack roll in Saga. So if you where hit with a poison attack, the poison had a bonus to attack rolls against your Fortitude defense, etc.

I think Stunned condition is good enough that you lose your next action. And Reeling already gives you a Disadvantage on all of your Ability checks so it does not double up as it where.

Awesome, so where are we in the round? Jihahna is grabbing the explosives form Kacela and then heading back? I guess Kacela has an action she can take since she recovered from Reeling. Reks still needs to attempt recovery or take his action.

Yes, I'll use Uncanny Dodge to half the damage.

ETA: I'm going to keep working on the droid, but I think we really need to focus fire on the NPC that came out of the smoke.

[sblock=Non-Game Rules Chat: Character Building]
Putting this stuff into spoilers so as not to jam up the OOC.
@GreenKarl

Another slow day at work, so I am putting another character together. I was considering creating a non-Jedi force user.

- It seems like the Force Adept PRC is somewhat designed with this in mind. I wonder if the requirements are a little excessive. The class is available at 5th Level, but requires the character to have three Force talents. The only way to pull that off is to dedicate all three talents a normal character would have at level 5 to Force talents. A character doing that probably wouldn't feel very much like their base class, as they wouldn't have any of those talents. I would suggest dropping the requirement to two or even one Force talent, which would allow for a little bit of Force flavor, but still retaining some flavor of the original class. They still have to invest one of their feats into Force Sensitive and at least one skill proficiency (or even another feat) to pick up proficiency in the Use the Force skill, but this way all of their talents wouldn't necessarily be focused on the Force.

- Are there other Force techniques and secrets? I only count four and three respectively in the rules provided, but a 10th level Force Adept would have access to five techniques and a 5th Level Force Disciple would have access to four secrets. None of them appear to be stackable.

- Several mentions of Destiny Points in the rules, but I don't think they've ever been mentioned in our game.

- Not related to the class issue, but I was using a Miraluka as the base race. I would suggest reducing the cover mitigation benefit they receive. Being able to ignore 3/4 cover without doing anything is pretty powerful. Maybe make it work similarly to the proposed change to Aim? They reduce cover benefits by one stage automatically. Not sure if they should even be able to benefit from Aim.[/sblock]

No need to hide it... I am at lunch right now so quick answers...

Force Adapt - too many requirements. You are right. Part of the problem was I was coping them over from Saga and in Sage you could not get to PRC until 7th level and I wanted it too be a bit less. I will modify that down to 2 but still with the other requirements.

The other Force Techniques and Secrets are listed in Saga and did not require much changes. I can update it with those listed ones later.

Destiny Points are again from Saga but something I was NOT really sure I wanted to include in this version. I was also thinking that you could only get them once your took a PRC or something. Still thinking about them.

Seems reasonable about the Miraluka's Force Sight. I also forgot to mention that Force Sight is based on your Use the Force skill roll and that the Miraluka can take that skill as they wish without having to the Force Sensitive (they can use the basic skills but no powers without it).
