D&D 5E You find a magical _____, it does _____

Lavoisier's Sphere

This 1-inch-diameter sphere has two command words inscribed on it. When the Absorption command word is uttered, any object that the sphere is in contact with becomes weightless and that weight is transferred to the sphere. In this fashion, the sphere can absorb up to 1000lbs. When the Dispersal command word is uttered, all the objects that have had their weights absorbed regain their original weights, and the sphere returns to its original weight.

Badge of the Lion-Knights

(A small square woven of silver thread with the design of a lion rampant woven into it in gold thread). This badge marks the bearer as member of the Lion-knights of Issenstone. Each remaining badge bears a small fragment of the soul of the order's founder - Sir Galbreath of Issenstone. Lord Galbreath was a fearless warrior, and his spirit imbues anyone who bears his mark with complete immunity to fear. Wearers have described this effect as feeling like a mildly euphoric sense of righteousness. Galbreath unfortunately is mostly known for his death - charging valiantly, alone, at an invading orcish army an hour's ride ahead of his own forces. The orcish tribes still tell stories of Galbreath's stupidity and have been known to double over laughing upon meeting anyone bearing his emblem. True to the stories, Galbreath's spirit seems to disrupt the mental faculties of any bearing his badge, imposing disadvantage on all Intelligence or Wisdom based ability checks.

Hairbrush of the Nine Dooms

Atropos, the eldest of the fates, was once known as Clotho, and was a fair maiden. She brushed her hair until it shone like gold, and any hairs caught in the brush would be woven into fate itself. But things seldom last, and Clotho grew older, changing her name to Lachesis, and finally Atropos.

Atropos was weaving one day with her daughter and grand-daughter (whose names were Lachesis and Clotho, the names she once held herself, incidentally.) And Atropos was feeling particularly wistful, and was spending the time reminiscing of the days so long ago when she was the young one, so vibrant and full of life, and how she loved to brush her hair. Lachesis only shook her head with a smirk, while Clotho rolled her eyes and used the threads of fate to make a sock-puppet to mock her Grand-Mother, who was not watching.

But Atropos was old, not blind, and eventually caught Clotho, and was filled with rage for her sock-puppeted insolence. She took up the hairbrush, which she had been caressing so gently only moments before, and threw it at Clotho. As it flew, Atropos spoke of the doom that would befall Clotho, just as it had befallen her when she was Clotho: that she would grow old, and wither, and become ugly one day, and that she was a ninny.

Clotho raised her hands up to protect her face, and when the hairbrush collided with the sock-puppet of fate and transformed it into the Hairbrush of Nine Dooms.

This magical hairbrush, when the magic word is spoken ("Ninny") and thrown, it will summon nine gargantuan highly sarcastic sock puppets. The sock puppets know only one song, and it never ends.

The Tome of I Forget

This book is quite large and heavy with a red leather binding. Or is is blue? I'm sure it was red. Or blue. Anyway, it has my name on the front. Or is it the back? No, it must be the front. I think.

Anyway this book is enchanted to record everything I ever see or do or learn. I'm old now, and there is an awful lot in it but it's very useful because when I forget things, as one does, I can look them up. It's all in chronological order, a bit like a diary.

If only I could remember where I lost it ...

A reversible glove with two thumbs

This rare and wonderful glove allows the wearing to wield their weapon in either hand without penalty. It is said to have been first made by the Order of Severus in order that their maimed veterans could continue fighting the unholy enemies of the church.

Next: A pair of blue shoes.

The Blue Suede Shoes

A gift from Plarc Erskin to the King of Bards, these seemingly indestructible shoes protect the wearer from several forms of harm. When attuned, wearing the shoes grants resistance to bludgeoning and fire damage, and also grants advantage to Wisdom(Perception) checks made to detect any form of theft of the owner's possessions. The shoes themselves appear to be indestructible.

Next: A spellbook seemingly made on a printing press.

[SECTION]Gutenberg's Spellbook
This spellbook is comprised of 36 pages of hand mould stamped sepia print and block print illustrations of apprentice mages seeking tutelage from an archmage. Most of it is a rambling discourse of the rudiments of spellcasting, such as belaboring the differences between verbal and somatic components, or the geometries of cones versus rays, the relative benefits of different types of guano for particular spells, and defunct theories on opposing spell schools. The only obvious actual spell in the spellbook is detect magic.

If detect magic is cast on the spellbook, it depicts abjuration magic on its pages (this is the effect of a permanent Nystul's magic aura - the book should actually depict illusory magic due to a permanent illusory script). Truesight, casting dispel magic, or receiving a "blessing/token of Gutenberg" allows a creature to see the actual content of the book: Spells!

1st level - illusory script
2nd level - Nystul's magic aura
3rd level - glyph of warding
4th level - fabricate
5th level - legend lore
6th level - Drawmij's instant summons
7th level - symbol
8th level - power word stun[/SECTION]

Dozens of 5"-diameter paper lanterns connected by a string

These strings of lanterns are marketed as disposable festive decorations but they could have other uses. When a lantern is pulled down on its string, it immediately begins to glow and functions as a normal PHB Lamp except that it doesn't need oil and it doesn't even need air to burn. After 6 hours it flares up briefly and turns to ash. The lanterns can be used singly but it looks prettier if the are all used at once.

If the whole string is looped around in a circle and all the lanterns are energised together it forms a Circle of Power, as the PHB spell except that it does not require concentration. When used in this way, the lanterns only last 10 minutes before burning out completely.

The Seven Shields of The Seven Wizards

In ages past there were seven dwarven wizards who sought a means to counteract the power of the Spellbinder, a vile evil half dark half light elf. Spellbinder engaged in a genocidal war against the dwarves for he felt that all dwarves were responsible for the death of his beloved wife. He specialized in magics of colour, light, dark and shade. The seven dwarven wizards created seven shields one to counter each colour of the spectrum. They thought each shield would protect them and render them immune to the colours. They failed as they had not considered that the Spellbinder could cast spells of inversed colours and spectrums rendering their shields quite useless.

The seven dwarven wizards writhed in agony as they died. If not for their ally the paladin White wielder of the Grey blade, Spellbinder might have conquered all. It is said that both are locked in a prison within another plane until someone frees them.

Red Shield grants immunity to fire.
Orange Shield grants immunity to energy drain.
Yellow Shield grants immunity to acid.
Green Shield grants immunity to poison.
Blue Shield grants immunity to lightning.
Indigo Shield grants immunity to paralysis.
Violet Shield grants immunity to disentergration.

Each shield draws in the type of damage it grants immunity to if it is caused by arcane magic.

Next: The paladin White's Grey Sword.

The paladin White's Grey Sword

Forged from a unique alloy of obsidian and mithral, this sword absorbs the colour from anything it strikes leaving the target monochromatic, like a black-and-white photograph of itself. If attuned and a command word is spoken, it releases all the colours it has absorbed in a burst of rainbow light that gives the wielder Truesight for 1 minute. This property can be used only once a day and recharges at dawn.
