I think that here is support form for developing of "ForgedAnvil D&D 5E Character Generator", not a place of silly controversy.

"You should use useful software what you think."
That's all there is to it.

Sounds like you are looking for StartAttacksAttack1Bonus (fill in the number for the appropriate attack).

<Edit> This is in reply to the post about the Bonus value for attacks that would be added to a weapon (like a magic +1 weapon). For whatever reason, I forgot to include the post I was replying to. </Edit>

Unfortunately that is not the Variable I am looking for. That Variable provides the whole bonus Stat and anything added to it. I tested it out with my EK/BS and the value with nothing in the Bonus Value and it came back as 9, which is my normal bonus with Proficiency and StatMod. I should add that it thought that it would provide either a 0, +1, +2, or +3, but it seems to not being doing so. I believe that Variable is storing the value given in the Attack Bonus Field on the Start Page.

So I am looking for the one that tracks the Magic Bonus added to Attacks on the Start Page.

What version are you using? on 2 beta 10 it works for me to get what is in the box just bellow the weapon name in Attack 1 on section 11 of the start sheet. In Excel if you select a cell it shows you the name of that cell in the top left corner next to where you enter text/formulas.

I recognize Forged can do anything he wants with his sheet. I doubt it is doomed without UA content. However, he is losing users because he does not have UA (or allow people to add UA by unlocking all tabs and having instructions). I used to use Forged sheet all the time but all of the non-AL local games I've been in the last 6 months or so allow UA material so I've switched to using MPMB's PDF generator as it does support UA material (including for my AL characters so I only have to remember the quirks of one generator). I truly wish Forged and his users all the best but, unfortunately, I can't use his sheet any longer.

The only UA thing the (automated) sheet can't do are the complete classes, whether updated or new. All the other bits can easily be done using the custom tab.

Thanks for that, I see it now. I was using an older build, my fault for not mentioning that part. I did not see that field listed in the earlier beta 2.00 builds. The field listed in the upper left shows AV190, so i guess I can use that one for now until I convert to build 10.

Is it known what field holds the numerical bonus for dueling (the +2 damage) that is added?

No named variable for dueling bonus, you can use =if(StartAttacksAttack1Dueling<>"",2,0)

The actual logic is a little more complicated =IF(AND(FightingStyleDueling=1,StartAttacksAttack1Dueling="•",OR(Attack1group="Simple Melee",Attack1group="Martial Melee"),Tables!ABB59=""),2,0)

Tables!ABB59 is the two handed property, which doesn't have named variable

Thanks for the reminder on that. Can Forged do new Warlock invocations? I thought I figured out (or read?) that it could not. I think my 3 current characters all fall into the "can't do it" category (Mystic (awaiting the supposedly soon-to-be-released 20-level version), UA Ranger, and Warlock with UA invocations).

On a quick tangent... I've never understood why they don't open UA material up for AL play (with a note that usage of any UA material must be updated as the material is officially released or revised in UA or pulled). This would give the UA material a LOT more play-testing.

I am guessing it is because AL is meant for a new-to-the-game-friendly game style, without the uncertainities that UA materials would introduce. Depending on the season of AL, not even all official material is allowed (Aarakocra race is not allowed in the underdark, for example). Like it or not, AL is meant to be more structured than standard game play, where standard is whatever your GM allows, and AL has rules even the GM is supposed to follow.

As far as including UA material in FAs tool, it is just too "fluid" for one person to deal with on a hobby character sheet tool. This is not FAs job (he gets no money for this besides the donation of beer money) and, as far as I know, FA does not share the load with anyone outside of getting help with translations. FA has set certain limits to help limit the load. One is that the tool does not support more than 3 classes for multiclass characters. Another is that it only supports official materials. If these limits do not work for your gamestyle, you are free to use another tool or even the tried-and-true pencil-and-paper method that players have been using since the '70s!

Greetings! I hear ya in the small print brother! Have you tried printing in landscape orientation rather than portrait? May also play with margins to get a nice divide on the page break.

Sent from my iPhone using EN World mobile app

Landscape (Include all columns) works the best I tried all the others. The drawback is you get multiple pages but you do not need a magnifying glass to read them and spells by clearing the empty slots it keeps it cleaner
