[MENTION=8900]And I wonder if swapping out healing word would be appropriate to avoid the leaders can do everything...
For a controller-Warlord sub-class? I'd think that'd be the first thing to do. Replace it with a more controller-y feature. Like, IDK, a troop of men at arms who volley-fire and form pike hedges for you.

I have been hedging about making it a subclass my anti-essentials nerves tingle but If I am going the 9 yards of swapping out that feature.... Thing is the Warlord Controller so completely manipulating the enemy that the allies are not being boosted? certainly not as much as other styles but how much of a controller is the cleric? perhaps that is how much of a controller this warlord is.

Maybe because they're not in on the manipulation? Regular Warlord encourages an ally to attack, the ally's attack is boosted, controller warlord encourages the ally to attack, the attack fails miserably, and enemies move to take advantage of the apparent weakness - right where the controller wanted them to be.

Secondary roles are fine, of course.

Presumedly needing Warlord controller feats to tempt him away from the leader ones.
A lot of Warlord feats take Inspiring Word or a specific Commanding Presence as a preq. Swap either or both of those, and you cut down on leader feats available. Controller-y feats could take whatever you swap in place of them as preqs.

Hmmmm perhaps = if I just made it lesser leadery like a "Sudden Warning" last second aid other defense effect then those Inspiring Word feats ones wouldn't be an issue
and the brutal manipulator and similar swap with the other ones. Someone doing a martial controller will want the dominating prescense.

I think the core warlord should have MORE controller abilities more using the enemy against themselves more suckering the bad guys in to moving where you want them and that seems valuable and appropriate even without a specialization in it.
