Day 259: The Anteroom

Raven Elk picks up stray pigeon feathers...

GM: There are plenty of loose feathers due to the population of resident pigeons. Having some familiarity, now, with the proclivity of harvesters, Raven Elk is able to put together 3 full sets that could augment the Health of the possessor.

Adi finds the trick with the globes extremely amusing and rushes over to make them turn off and on repeatedly...

GM: The globes respond in kind, yet there is about a second delay each time. After a few manipulations, Adisakti is suddenly befuddled by the fact that he can no longer illuminate the globes. He, also, suddenly realizes that he is completely out of breath. The fatigue is much greater than had he run up the steps to arrive.

Vittero snickers a bit at the self-induces predicament.
"Uh huh! You forgot about the fatigue while you were having fun. Now you will need to rest for a few minutes until you can generate any more weaves."

Taylar... pauses to watch the effects of the lights, interested in whether or not the illumination globes can keep up with his friends mischief... takes his light stone from his pocket, relights it with Way if necessary, and tosses it through the ajar part of the door so he can see what is on the other side without opening it. If he sees nothing threatening he will open the door.

GM: The lighted stone bounces on the stone floor of the adjacent room. Peering through the crack, Taylar sees no immediate threat. Pushing on the door to open it, it refuses to budge. He shoulders into it, driving with his legs, finally knocking the door open with three successive hits. No other sound is heard coming from the room and nothing approaches.

"What say you? Onward shall we?"

Taylar will move first into the next room, looking for threats and then more light globes. He says, "This place is in such good shape, and with ample food in the garden I wonder why anyone left it. Perhaps this was never a permanent home and instead was a place to hide away when times were tough. Evidently the masters of this keep were unable to return, but this is a mystery I will solve."

He will reclaim his light stone.

Maka frowns at Adi’s shenanigans, but says nothing. When he begins to grow fatigued, the thinnest trace of a smile can be seen on Maka’s lips. Maka watches as Taylar repeatedly bangs into the door, watching and listening for signs that the noise has attracted someone’s (or something’s) attention.

Day 259: Behind the Wooden Door

Raven Elk stows the pigeon feathers and takes up the rear guard position.

Taylar will move first into the next room, looking for threats and then more light globes. He says, "This place is in such good shape, and with ample food in the garden I wonder why anyone left it. Vittero follows after Taylar, being second into the room. He knocks an arrow and move to Taylar's left, incase there is danger. With no immediate threat, he responds to Taylar's comment.
"I was, sometimes listening when my father taught lessons. I know something of the history of the Yahdram. Apparently, we were once all one race. Skip the details, but in a war with the gods, the Yahdram were separated into more peoples. This residence may have been inexplicable emptied due to the actions of the ancient gods. Don't give me any blank stares, Maka. It is a reasonable solution."

... Maka watches as Taylar repeatedly bangs into the door, watching and listening for signs that the noise has attracted someone’s (or something’s) attention.

GM: Despite all the noise and the intrusion, nothing immediately threatens the party as they all move into the next room. This was once a dining area. The tables and furnishings are still in place. THe room is about twice the size of the anteroom, being rectangular in shape with the entrance facing the long end. Taylar lights a globe on the right and Vittero lights one of the left. As before, the other globes in the room follow suit about 1 second apart each. There is considerable light in the room. There are four narrowed dining tables arranged where the diners would all be able to face one another. Plates and goblets still adorn the tables. There are 3 other doors, one on each other wall. Each appears to be in better shape than the entry door. As the party is visually gathering all the information about the room, a wispy translucent figure, literally walks through the door on the right-hand side of the room. He says some forceful, yet hoarse and air words in some unknown language at the party, pointing toward the entrance door as iff commanding them to leave. The lights begins to extinguish beginning on the far side of the room.

Day 259: A Displaced Memory

Taylar attempts to appease the spirit. He holds his hand up and says in a firm voice, "Spirit this is no longer your home! Depart from here and continue your journey into the next world. This place belongs to the living, and we are the living." Satisfied that the spirit will see reason, Taylar looks over the tables and says to his friends, "I am looking forward to drinking from a Yahdram goblet."

GM: The faded image is that of a man over a pace tall, about 7'. He is dressed in a very elegant, yet strange, manner, for his finely woven dark overcoat has far too many buttons to be practical, and the sleeves are too tight. His shendyt drapes almost to the floor and seems a bit too narrow. He carries a white cloth in his wispy right hand; and when he moves, he does not step but merely glides along the floor. The image of a man pauses at the sound of another voice. No recognition of the words' meaning crosses his face. He repeats his own original command, more forcefully, and begins to glide toward the party from the mid-point of the room, as the last light extinguishes. Taylar's light is still functioning. In the dark, the image appears to glow slightly, like phosphorescent moss.

Taylar had little faith that the specter would heed his words, and was waiting for an aggressive act. Seeing that the apparition moved right through the door, he does not think his baton will do him much good in this fight. He intends to lunge at his opponent, and use Way to Heat it.
