TUW: The Outpost

There are fine porcelain plates, fine glass chalices, and silver eating utensils.

While waiting for the others to heal Taylar will thoroughly clean one of the chalices and drink water from it. "Ah. My lips are the first to touch this glass for centuries. Makes me feel special." He will gather the plates, chalices, and utensils together, but will not bring them right now. He does not want to be encumbered with clinking dishes while they explore the rest of the keep, but he intends to return for them later. "Perhaps if we can get them home in one piece someone can figure out how to make more of them."

Taylar gives the pouch with the angry spirit dust in it to Raven Elk. "You know more about spirits than I do, my friend. If this dust can be useful to us, I'm sure it will be more potent in your hands."

Taylar will open each of the other three doors a crack and use his light stone to peer at what is on the other side before the group decides where to go next.

Taylar gives the pouch with the angry spirit dust in it to Raven Elk. "You know more about spirits than I do, my friend. If this dust can be useful to us, I'm sure it will be more potent in your hands."

Raven Elk takes the ashes/dust from Taylar with a sheepish: "Um, yeah, sure."

As he puts the spirit dust into his sack, he wonders why Adi didn't get this. He's the one that figured out how to defeat the thing, not him. Raven Elk sighed as he tied the sack back shut. He still felt that he should just stick with his plants. Being a shaman may not be in the will of the fates for him...

Then again, you never could tell.

Raven Elk watches Taylar perform his quick inspection behind the other doors. All he figured he can do from here was --- Be Prepared.

Day 259: Keep One, The Back Rooms

While waiting for the others to heal Taylar... will gather the plates, chalices, and utensils together, but will not bring them right now.
GM: Taking everything that appears valuable, Taylar realizes that there will be too much to carry, even if a good method for protecting it can be devised. There are 24 porcelain plates, 48 chalices, and 72 individual silver utensils.

Vittero offers.
"We can, at least, walk out with the silver utensils even if we can carry not much else. Since you marked this on the map we have been making, this may take more than one trip."
He does not want to be encumbered with clinking dishes while they explore the rest of the keep, but he intends to return for them later. "Perhaps if we can get them home in one piece someone can figure out how to make more of them."

GM: Peering in the door to the right of the entry, which is the one that the spirit passed through, the room appears to be utilitarian, possibly even a kitchen. The door at the back of the dining room opens into a short hall which ends in another door. The same is observable for the door to the left, as well.

Maka says, “The metal chalices and utensils can be stuffed into a bag, once we decide to leave this place. But the plates are delicate, and I doubt we’d be able to transport them very far without breaking them. We’d need to go back to the Outpost, and obtain crates and packing materials, which would then require us to return here with a wagon. To pack the dishes, each one would need to be wrapped with a thin cloth. I think that’s a lot of trouble, and I’m not sure the value of the plates would be worth the effort.”

Maka pauses thoughtfully before adding, “As for which door to take, I think we can leave the kitchen for later inspection, I doubt there’s much there. The remaining choices are left, or to the rear. I say we investigate the door at the rear of the dining room first. What say you, my friends?”

Adi marvels at the artifacts left on the tables, he picks up some of the silver utensils. He looks at his friends. You don't suppose the dead are in need of these silver spoons, forks or knives do you? He slips a few into his pouch, then it occurs to him to see what sort of way the silver would help him manipulate.

GM: Adisakti fumbles each individual utensil over his fingers hoping to ascertain some indication that the items gravitate to a particular proclivity. With a deep sigh of dissatisfaction, the twik (weird name for a two tined stabbing utensil), spoon, and knife not only harbor no proclivity, they show no fluctuation at all. It is as if the heat and molding necessary to form them has ruined their natural alignment in favor of an aesthetic function, like weapons which show nothing of the proclivity of their ores.

OOC: It was a good thought though. It is better for the characters to attempt a few things that do not work as indicative of an actual learning process. What the characters learn from this is that once a substances has been heated and shaped, it is no longer of use for manipulating Way.

Taylar nods at Maka. "Very well, but I would like to check the kitchen later. It could hold some pots and pans that would be very useful to us."

Vittero cracks his knuckle, takes a deep breath, and knocks an arrow.
"Straight back it is."

GM: The door opens into a very short hall of only one pace in length, ending in another wooden door. This door, too, has no locking mechanism. The second door leads into a bedroom, complete with a plush bed, floor rug, tapestries, and four stone braziers mounted to the floor.

The room is supported by four columns. Each column hold four glass globes as did those in the dining area. There are no other exits from his room. It appears to have been undisturbed for quite some time.

OOC: NOTE for Tellerian concerning previous post:
The chalices are glass not metal.

Taylar will light the globes and search the room, the bed, under the rug, around the braziers and pillars, and behind the tapestries. He will check the quality of the bed furnishings.

He scratches his head and says, "Not what I was expecting."

After seeing where they have found themselves, Raven Elk says: "It would seem we may be in the quarters of some noble or temple priest. Let's have a closer look at the tapestries. They may tell us something about the prior occupant."

Raven inspects each tapestry in detail.
