What do you call it when...

Ok, I have a specific question here, but, I thought it might be fun to have a thread devoted to finding obscure terms for stuff.

Anyway, my specific question. I came across a term for the following message board behavior, but, I've forgotten what it was and I cannot find it anywhere. What do you call it when someone replies to a lengthy message by quoting all (or most) of the message, chopping it into very small quotes with replies between each quote?

There's a really great term for this but, I cannot find it. Help.

Depends, it is a fairly neutral and descriptive term or typical internet, passive-aggressive snark? Given the state of internet society, I'd guess it's about a 50/50 shot.

I'm not sure if it's meant to be snarky or not, but, some folks don't like it when you break up their posts in to a bunch of two line bits and interject a response between each bit. There's a term for breaking the post up and I cannot, for the life of me, remember what it is.

I’ve seen some VERY negative reactions to it. Some even report the practice to the moderation staff.

Never seen a particular term labeling it,

I can't seem to find it at the moment but there was a website dedicated to the various forum behaviours, naming them, complete with cartoon figures of them. Maybe someone else remembers it?

Really? I've been guilty of it myself a few times. I've done it to make my replies to really long posts more legible. I'd be interested to know why it would be seen as negative?

It depends upon to what extreme it's taken. On one forum on which I posted there was a guy who would go as far as take a paragraph, that represented a single contiguous thought, and break it down by the sentence so that he could argue something that hadn't actually been said by the other person. That sort of thing is immensely frustrating.
