Down to #13, behind the D&D Essentials Kit and Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, both coming to Amazon next month.

Those sales for Eberron are pretty huge.

So, Hoard of the Dragon Queen and the Rise of Tiamat are now selling better than every Pathfinder book other than the core: books that are five years old. No dig on the Pathfinder books, I'm just impressed that books that were not all that well received in the online community continue to sell so long: no 3E or 4E books did that sort of sustained business, to my knowledge, yet literally all of the 5E books are still in play.

Still early but I dont think PF2e is gonna be as successful as Paizo hoped it would be. More time will be needed to tell though. I honestly dont think it will get any better unless some supplemental book comes out that changes the minds of potential customers. I dont see that happening though.

Depends on what their expectations were when setting up a business plan. Doesn't seem it will be PF1 levels of success, certainly not 5E levels of success, but they might not need that.

I do suspect they planned this around the idea that 5E would be petering out by now...

How successful did they hope it would be?

The mistake people make is thinking ‘success’ is only measured by beating the market leader; which makes success impossible for all but one company.

Ford sells more cars than Ferrari and McDonalds sells more than the most awesome restaurant in Paris. I sell a few thousand books each quarter and do just fine. All these businesses are successful.

Pathfinder doesn’t need to sell more books than D&D.

Ok the Barnes and Noble finally got some copies in, but can you tell it's the new edition? If you were a new player would you know the difference between the PF1 books and the PF2 books just looking at this shelf? To be fair 5th edition just says dungeons and dragons on the side also but has the advantage that no more 4e books are on the shelf.

Also as a side note, the 5e player's handbook is sold out. Again. I'm tempted to buy the PF2 core rulebook but after all the errata and editing it needs was announced I'm thinking of waiting on the second printing.
