D&D 5E Simple Character Sheet if you want one

That's fair, though in that case having a little more space (at least two lines) could be beneficial.

In fact, I think a dedicated section for "Defenses" right above "Weapons" would be nice, or at least make the AC line more prominent by moving it to the first or last line.

For a dedicated section, I'd list AC at the top and then have several free-form lines where the player can enter armor, traits, magic, etc. as they see fit, e.g.:

DEFENSES
-----------------------------------
AC [20]
Chain Mail [16] + Shield [+2]___
Defense Fighting Style [+1]_
Ring of Protection [+1]__
__

Not sure if you can squeeze that in, but I think it would be a more useful and, more importantly, more visible format.

Not a bad idea. I'll have to play around with the markup to see if I can make something work and fit.

What about the idea of removing Wt. from Weapons? I don't know if you actually opened the pdf, but the second line, fourth, etc. are full lines for notes (like in the image). I want to keep those lines for notes about the weapons, etc. and weight could be put there if the player wanted...

By removing Wt. I could have additional space for damage and range if needed.

What is your opinion (or others who read this... you are all included, too! :) )?

I hadn't opened the PDF, but I see what you mean now.

I prefer to fill my sheets by hand, so having them all as full lines allows me to decide on a case-by-case basis if I need a notes line or not. Most of the time I don't.

If you drop the weight column, I'd give more room to the Damage column to allow potentially fitting both damage dice for a versatile weapon in there e.g. 1d8/1d10.

However, it's nice to have weight easily visible if you're tracking encumbrance - perhaps two versions depending on the campaign? :p

I don't see a place for Size - it could probably fit on the same row as Ht/Wt/Age (if entered as e.g. S, M, or L).

The other thing missing that I feel is important in 5e is the character's Personality Traits, Bonds, Flaws and Ideals. Adding that would really stretch the limits of the single page format you seem to be aiming for.

Well, I am trying to not have any "obvious" information, and size is one of those IMO since PCs are always either Small or Medium, and I think most players would know what size their character is.

I can understand your wanting PBFI info, but we don't really use it. Your character has whatever personality you give them. It was something I felt a player could put under "Other Notes" if they really wanted the info there. Alternatively, since the back of the sheet of paper (if printed) would be blank, you could always put it there. If you use Reader and use the pdf digitally, you can also added comments with the information that way. Given the space constraint and my own feelings about PBFI, I doubt I would ever add it.

If I ever expanded this to include a second "back" page, I would put it there for people who wanted it, but that isn't my plan right now. Maybe I'll make a 2-page version for other people when I have time.

That's a really nice sheet! (Though I'm wondering why the PC gets +5 ATT for the javelin? Should be +3? :) )

Edit: Also below Current HP should be a slot for Temp HP.

Fighters are proficient (+2) and javelins are thrown (i.e. use Strength, NOT Dexterity) for a total of +5. ;)

A dedicated place for Temp HP would be nice, but it's easy enough to write in as +X next to the current HP, e.g. 12 + 5.

Thanks! I am glad people seem to like it. There is nothing wrong with more robust sheets, but I wanted something more streamlined.

As coolAlias said, thrown weapons use STR unless they have the Finesse property as well, in which case you can use DEX instead of STR (e.g. a dagger can use either).

My plan for Temp HP was simply to do +X also as coolAlias suggests. I wanted the space next to Current (HP) to be "roomy" for people to write and erase, etc. for a printed version.

I love this simplified sheet, nice work!
One comment: What about a place to track recovery Hit Dice? That changes from rest to rest, and from session to session.
Since dying typically resolves in a few rounds and doesn't really need to be tracked long term, perhaps replace those Death Save slots with number of Hit Dice available for rests?
Anyway, thanks for sharing!
