D&D 5E Divine Soul is Kinda Nasty

It's not "Rouge"... That's makeup.
They are solid and probably one of the only sorcerer origins that I find alluring but they double down on the core issue all sorcerers have with spells known.
That are great at purpose built focuses like buffing but are fairly rigid.

This is the major limiting factor for Divine Soul Sorcerers... Yes, they have access to twice as many spell options. But they're still limited in spells known, like all Sorcerers. So they're not as versatile as a true Cleric, but are still a good option for certain specific builds utilizing certain specific spell options.

In practice, most Divine Soul Sorcerers I've seen have merely dipped into the Cleric list for a few choice spells, rather than trying to be a true spontaneous-casting Cleric and taking primarily Cleric spells.

Before the fiend summoning spells came out, I think the best reason was to be the summoning sorcerer (and since planar ally doesn't require concentration, getting a demon from that spell plus summon minor demons can still be a nice combo for evil sorcerers).

It's still probably tied with Shepherd druid for best summoner.
Army building is one of those things that just doesn't fly at a lot of tables.

New spell lists are really fun for sorcerers. In my wife's D&D campaign, I'm playing a Sorcerer with the Fey Magic Origin from "Xanathar's Lost Notes." Being able to choose spells and cantrips from both the Sorcerer and the Druid spell lists is immensely useful.

It isn't an exact match, but it is the closest I've been able to come to playing a Shannara-style druid.

I played with a divine soul sorcerer that I used for a number of one shots over time. I didn't take a ton of cleric spells overall, but I had fun with the ones I did have access to. I mainly focuses on synergies with twin spell: cure wounds (which you get as a bonus), guiding bolt (chromatic orb is also great at low levels), phantasmal force, enhance ability, haste, banishment.

While it didn't fit with the twin theme, I did end up taking another cleric spell that I had a lot of fun with. Animate Dead. I found that they don't get much done in the way of damage but having a posse of literal meat shields that can stand in the way of enemies is useful. It also scales with +2 undead per level so it's really easy to create a ton of them when you get more spell slots.

I did a Divine Soul Sorcerer and they make excellent support. Twinned healing was really good, and Subtle spell was great to keep my healing from being counterspelled. If I had considered it, a level dip into Life Cleric would have been amazing.
Dis you make room for silence? It shuts down all other casters... (And counters the ill effects of knock) Twin blindness is also a nasty debuf

Naw. Subtle from other casters bypasses silence, spell storing item ignores it, the odd spell with no verbal component exists, silence can be counterspelled before it takes effect, silence drops if concentration can be broken, and several casters also have other combat options to fall back on. Still a pain but a spellcaster isn't necessarily shut down.

Hypnotic pattern and counter spell are both fairly common and neither has a verbal component, for example. Or just move out of the area of effect before casting.

Nice trick against many casters though. Silence yourself and subtle your own spells.
