But Kara Tur has a bunch of races like Tako that could have been used for PCs and I have no idea why they weren't.

Also not seen as PC races back when, yet are now in Kara Tur are Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Yuan Ti Purebloods. Kara Tur has Tenku instead of Kenku.

And of course any race from Faerun can visit Kara Tur, like Elves, Dwarves, ect...

The spellplague and Sundering are also on opportunities to give Kara Tur and it's locations a new spin, a chance to make improvements and polish the rough edges.

it's the perfect opportunity to rip it down and rebuild the "outlying" areas of the Realms into places that honor their inspirations.

none have made any arguements why Tarkir, Kamigawa or Plane of Mountains and Seas, why would they be better or not?

Not being Kara Tur, is a large selling point for me. I’ve never accepted Kara Tur as a real part of the Forgotten Realms. I have never bought a Realms Kara Tur product, and in all likelihood, never will.

Talk of the Mongolian FR trilogy is akin to talking about the Spell Sundering or Magical Kingdom Dislocation effects.....You will get a “They did what?” followed by a shrug and the statement:
“Not in my game”.

I won’t buy a Kara Tur setting. I will buy a new D&D setting. Notes for Kara Tur would be fine in that book. I would love to see such a book have a custom cosmology like Eberron.

I'd likely buy a Kara Tur book but if I'm being honest, I'd much rather have a Tarkir setting book I thought it was a pretty rad setting from what I can remember of it.

Anyways moving past Kara Tur for a moment, none have made any arguements why Tarkir, Kamigawa or Plane of Mountains and Seas, why would they be better or not?
Either I don't exist or you don't bother reading posts.
Counter-Point: a MtG setting does more for expanding WotC's customer base than Kara Tur would. Also, Kara Tur is covered in the stench of orientalism.

When you punch someone in the nose, you don't get to declare that it doesn't hurt them.
Also, as it happens, within the past few days, I saw several posts on Twitter posting to a stream from Asian tabletop roleplayers where they do reading through AD&D Oriental Adventures and talk about what makes it so terrible and offensive.
