D&D 5E Is the map in the Theros book good?

Its not bad its just imo not very useful if its inside a book and I need to keep flipping back and forth while reading and running the adventure. When they made adventures in softcover most of the times the maps were on the inside covers and just easier to use than hard cover. Not to mention theres just something to be said for a large map you hang on the wall or laminate and leave on the table.

Agree with everything you said here.
The soft cover maps were great too - as someone who collected the BECMI Gazetteers I know how useful that was/is.
For SKT I did in fact google the map and had it printed it out for our table.

I used to get some laminated at Kinkos for $7. I had the 3E FRCS and the Eberron CS done. I also worked in an engineering office and I used to scan a bunch and I could send them to my desk as a PDF or print them out full size. I miss that

Me too, honestly I stopped using maps quite awhile ago except for smaller ones that were printed out portions of larger ones. Ones from boxed sets were good for referencing while reading through the content to get a better understanding of what you were reading. As someone pointed out in another thread art and cartography was mostly lost when WotC took over. Honestly I cant recall 1 decent map for 5E yet.

If you are interested in some truly beautiful maps, the upcoming Marmoreal Tomb adventure from Ernest Gygax Jr. looks like it has some spectacularly hand drawn maps by Benoist Poire. That mega adventure/mini-setting is finally, after a five year delay, coming out.

What ruleset?

Yeah those maps are nice for being hand drawn. The overland maps look pretty retro in a Greyhawk way.

It's going to come out for many different rulesets, including 5e. From the June 24 update, "Very shortly, we are going to reach out for people to convert the Marmoreal Tomb to the various game systems. This will include: C&C, 5E, Hackmaster, DCC, and Pathfinder. "

Thats pretty surprising that itll have a 5e release. Thought them and WotC had a falling out?
