The article doesn’t say anything more, unfortunately, other than describing what D&D is — “Affectionately referred to by fans as D&D, the game is known for its wars, treasure hunts, campaigns, camaraderie, and reversals of fortune, all in a setting that combines humans, elves, orcs and hundreds of other creatures. The game famously uses multisided dice in gameplay to further the imaginary story and is overseen by a host known as the Dungeon Master.”

Or if we wanted to stick to Hasbro properties for comparison... the way wotc treats FR would be like a new transformers cartoon having a heavy my little pony influence right down to energon being the energy of friendship or a gi joke cartoon with cobra's moon base resort the seat of power for queen celestia

Not really. Plenty of D&D monsters can be done with good old make up. Shoot the whole show in Ireland or New Zealand and you need about the same amount of CGI as The Witcher.

You could make a pretty good animatronic beholder, digitally removing the gubbins and operators behind. A CGI beholder would probably cheaper, but less convincing if it is on screen a lot.

Just for the love of Gygax, don't have a scene where you can distract the beholder by throwing a stick.

Against the cult of the reptile god would make a decent 8 part series.
No one can be offended by 7 foot tall green lizardfolk as baddies or a Naga as the bbeg.
Plus it's perfect balance between town, wilderness n dungeon
