I'm kind of leaning towards Commander. The biggest issue is that most of the words we reserve for the concept at the height of its power. Warlord, General, Marshal, Strategos, etc.

Commander at least is a low-level rank, lower than Captain. So having a low level Commander doesn't sound so unusual.

Like, if there's a guard patrol, having the officer in charge be a 3rd level Warlord or General seems dissonant, but a 3rd level Commander seems okay to me.
Captain can be higher rank than commander, but it is also an informal title for what is essentially a paragon or exemplar in a field or in another specialized community, and a ton of other uses.

The idea of Warden is an interesting one in what it implies. A number of 4e classes have been scavenged for parts but have core elements left untouched. Just as there are parts of the Warlord in Battlemaster and a few Paladin oaths, parts of Warden have spread out among ranger and druid spells and Oath of the Ancients. Yet both have a central conceit — a more centralized, defensive-of-something or somewhere nature — that remains available to build a niche around different from other classes. If the name “Warlord” is iffy, combine those elements into a new non-magical Warden class; the subclasses may differentiate commanders of troops vs. guardians of locations, more leader-types vs. more tank/battlefield control-types.

Overall I think Tactician is probably best, though Warlord and Captain are alright.

Most of the names refer to ranks or titles, and class names generally try to avoid that (though subclasses often do that). The class is what you do, not what position you hold.
Captain and Marshal are both a rank (varies wildly between different contexts) and indicator of what you do, much like ranger and Paladin.

I don't like tactician as it kind of implies using intelligent commands.

I'd like the "Warlord" to run on charisma or wisdom by inspiring allies, demoralizing does, predicting outcomes, and perceiving advantages.

Tactician kinda removed the idea of the class borrowing bardic aspects from the bard to combat cheerlead and give rousing prebattle speeches.

Nicolas Cage has deserved a Dnd class for a long time now.

I chose Commander and Tactician. Those names seem to be descriptive, like the Bard, Cleric or Rogue, or even the Fighter. The names also seem, to me at least, evocative in that they immediately bring to mind a positive image of someone that is confident and in control of the situation. Which should get people excited to play the class.

In addition to being a little gender specific (Warlord), if you look back in history, has Warlord ever been a good thing? Like, have you ever heard, "And then a Warlord came along and made things better for everyone!" I mean, maybe there has, but I haven't heard of one. So for me it has a negative connotation, not game wise, but historically.

Having missed the whole 4e warlord debate. Can someone summarize the difference between the warlord and the battlemaster now the new maneuvers for allies attacks and healing etc are in Tasha’s.

This isn’t a loaded question. I don’t have a dog in this fight. it’s a genuine ask for a quick summary. Obvs this would be superseded by changes Level Up makes.
