D&D Movie/TV Is the D&D TV Show Based On Drizzt?

We don't know much about the D&D TV show yet. Here's what we do know.

• The writer is Derek Kolstad (John Wick).
• It will be 6-10 serialized episodes.
• It's a work in process and as yet untitled.
• WotC has just launched a "Summer of Drizzt" PR campaign, which includes an animated short with Benedict Cumberbatch narrating.
• The accompanying press release said "A live action tv show is in development with eOne entertainment and, although not focused on Drizzt, a movie set in the Forgotten Realms starring Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, Rege-Jean Page, Michelle Rodriguez, Sophia Lillis, and Justice Smith is in production." That reads like the former is Drizzt, the latter isn't.
• ComicBook.com asked WotC directly, who said "the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie was "not focused on Drizzt, but there is a TV show in development that might be."
• The TV show was confirmed to be set in the Underdark. The approach is a "tinier sliver" of the world, compared to epic stories like Lord of the Rings. He compares it to Star Wars and Jaws. He mentioned that he's like to go "deeper and deeper into the Underdark".

Just in case people really don't know, we do have the canon pronunciation for drow here. Pronounced just like one alternative of the word "row".

I feel compelled by the Infinite Pedantry of the Internet to point out that, ackshully, that's not canon, because that's a non-WotC website. Though it is how I normally pronounce it.

Don't know if joking or not, but in case of not, an extract of poetry. It rimes:

Yeah, but that's the noun Slough. The verb Slough, as in to shed or cast off skin, is pronounced to rhyme with Fluff.

As for diversifying the drow...if they actually looked at the lore, they would see they already have a foundation to do this--Eilistraeens and Vhaeraunites. But instead, it sounds like they're writing an entire new subset. I'm definitely not against diversifying drow, but I am tired of seeing Eilistraee and Vhaeraun constantly reduced to footnotes. Maybe they are in these new cities, but they weren't mentioned in the description, and if RAS is the one introducing these new drow, I doubt we'll see them.

I like Drizzt well enough (most of the time), but I think I'll sit out the "Drizzt summer".

Drow who worship Vhaeraun or Eilistraee aren't necessarily from a different culture. They are still Menzoberranzan drow, or udadrow . . . they just follow a different religion from the dominant Lolth cult.

Honestly I hearing this from alot of folks and other complaints about the new Drow. This is the most pissed I've seen the FR community since the Spellplague. They need to clarify things.
